Hmmm... I'm listening to the 7th right now and I don't see how it could be described as simple. Also, I've been listening to Beethoven since before I could walk and haven't tired of it yet.
See also, Jazz.

Juan... I would recommend some more bands if you like the grunge music - Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, The Pixies, Alice in Chains. Temple of the Dog is an excellent album as well. Old Pearl Jam is way better than new Pearl Jam, if you haven't figured that out yet. It all goes downhill after Vs.

You should listen to him Flounder, he's a pre-med.

Oh, I get tired of jazz before the needle hits the groove/laser hits the substrate/bytes hit the interpreter.

Wow, I like that line.

Soundgarden I like, Alice in Chains so-so (only have their rooster album though-for now), I have Temple of the Dog (hard copy that is), the Pixies are like 10,000 years old so I have some of their stuff. In fact, this computer came with some free music from them! Pearl Jam is recording a new album... or so I've heard... I only have the albums "dissident" and "Cracked Rear Veiw" by them though. Like I said, I'v enever really had much money... and I'm playing catch up.On band I really loved though was Putrid Flowers, but they are long gone. I've only found their music on those free mixed albums that bands used to give away at cost to themselves.
Who the hey is Mother Love Bone?
pimpdave wrote:Alot of the stuff I have is bootlegged anyway, so although I paid for the CDs, I have no qualms about distributing it for free, since the artists weren't compensated by the sale anyway. (you know, back in the day, live recordings off the sound boards, and the like).
PM me.

I think that it depends on the Jazz. Some stuff is golden... and others make you sleepy.

I kind of have to back Juan on this one. I'm pretty sure that
Nevermind is still the highest selling album of all time. And that's worldwide, not just here in the states.
It beat
Thriller, man.
Thriller!

Honest to God I just bought a copy of that album on eBay. I got it two days ago... it shipped from China.

Mother Love Bone was Pearl Jam before Pearl Jam. Jeff Ament (bassist) and Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar) of PJ were in MLB. Good stuff.
Wikipedia has a pretty comprehensive list of grunge bands.
Here are some other bands that I like (they have little to do with grunge). Mostly rock, hard rock, metal. Could be good to give a listen if you are newer to the music scene:
Kings of Leon - their old stuff; their new album is over-produced.
Wolfmother - a cross between Zeppelin and 80s hair bands
The Raconteurs
Tool/A Perfect Circle
Clutch - their new stuff is bluesy, but all good
My Dying Bride
System of a Down - Chop Suey! might be one of my top 10 favorites
Korn - only their first album

I hope your copy has the hidden track on it,
Endless Nameless.
I have two copies of
Nevermind. The first one I bought didn't have the bonus track on it. Apparently that's one of only about 5,000 copies pressed. So I bought a second copy (follies of youth) just for that bonus track. It wasn't worth it to buy the album again, but whatever.

Sure, it's definitely a big deal, and I enjoy my Nirvana, but it's dated, and I still think its influence is being overestimated.
Also, since I like naming things that underwhelm me, "Stairway to Heaven" is overrated.

Woah, woah, woah... let's not say things we don't mean. Without Zeppelin, there'd be no Nirvana (and I mean that both in terms of the band and the concept of eternal nirvana).

Hey man, without black dudes in Africa in the beginning of the human race banging drums and whatnot, there'd be no Bach, and thus no jazz, and thus no rock.

Yeah, actually, Bach wins.
And Zepplin is a bunch of plagiarists. Doesn't matter how technically proficient they are, or how awesome the songs they actually did write are.
They are plagiarists. That is unforgivable, and makes the rest of their work complete shit.

Hmmm... it's fairly common knowledge that Jimmy Page and Robert Plant used to turn up at early Jethro Tull gigs and take notes. I think we could easily have gotten to roughly where we are know (musically, culturally) without Led Zeppelin (although Bonzo did introduce a very distinctive style of drumming, but whatever).

Tell me more?? I have no idea what you're talking about.
I'm not a huge fan of Led Zepplin, but some of their songs (like When the Levee Breaks) are awesome imo

Stop being sarcastic, Ink. You know I can't resist ranting about this every time someone mentions that awful band.
So, I'll be short this time:
See also, Howlin' Wolf.

What the f*ck???? They don't even mention The Lemon Song.... which was Howlin' Wolf's
Killing Floor.
Howlin' Wolf- Killing FloorLed Zepplin (i.e. Plagiarist Cunts)- Lemon Song (i.e. Killing Floor)Now just remember kids, there's nothing wrong with covering a song. There's a long standing tradition of this. But one MUST GIVE CREDIT where it's due. And Zepplin tried to pull a fast one, useless fuckers that they are.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Led_Zeppli ... plagiarismKeep in mind, that's a wikipedia article, so they have to be nice and say "allegations". There are other sources out there, but there was a settlement paid to Howlin Wolf, which is a clear admission of guilt, the fucking plagiarist cunts.
