Maybe we can use that center ground as a way certain continents can reach each other and incorporate a certain way this happens? I might be getting a little complicated but if it worked it could be good.
I agree, after I posted that I realized we would go nowhere without some kind of rough sketch to start with. I have several ideas, but like I posted earlier I'm going to be out of town for several weeks soon and won't be able to do anything about it. The yin-yang is still workable, and would certainly be visually pleasing and in keeping with the theme, but personally I'd like to avoid anything completely circular and balanced as I think that doesn't lend itself to interesting gameplay. What's more balanced than a yin-yang, that's what the damn thing stands for
Another idea I've had is placing the terretories into an animal shape, for example the ubiquitous Chinese dragon. For example, there could be 7 countries in a wing, 5 in a leg, 12 in the torso etc. These could be the continents. I know it's a bit disconnected from the original idea, especailly considering that the dragon is just one of the 12 animals, but ultimately it may be a more fun to play map than something round. I'm not married to either approach though, and I'm real excited to put something together visually as soon as I get back from my travels.
