You claim that it's impossible for there to be porn on youtube because it's banned, yet that would mean that there's no flaming on this site outside of the flame wars. Flawless logic there mate.

You claim that I'm telling a fib about what I saw very clearly linked on YouTube? A hand sticking into a vagina is generally considered to be pornographic. Now, I may be overly conservative, but I'm pretty sure that violates the no porn linked rule.

You claim that the thread linked to an 18 or over page. If you want to be technical about it, the thread linked to the video, and youtube inserted the 18 or over warning, so pimp did link to a page with porn linked on it.

Anyone with a Youtube account can flag a video as unsuitable for minors. Considering that Youtube users hail from many different cultural backgrounds it is not surprising that some things one person would consider perfectly fine to be viewed by a child will be flagged as unsuitable by someone else, then there will also quite likely be persons who flag videos out of revenge for whatever perceived slight or maybe just because they can.
It's not a big deal if you have an account, then you can watch it anyway, but can't complain if it offends you because you were warned.

He told me what was on the page and I took the appropriate mod action. Sorry, but I don't have to have an account to find out what is on the page....I am smart enough to ask others.

Outside of all the flaming that is going on here, I just want to throw in my two cents... Youtube links to stuff that is related to a movie, and sometimes to stuff that isn't related the movie. For instance i was watching a movie my friend made for school that was him and his friends acting out something star wars related... and there were inappropriate links from there, it is not like the person linking chooses what his link will lead to.
If the movie he sent was clean i say he is innocent, and taking action against him for the links it contained is over the top.

ps: i haven't seen the video, but it was stated by a mod earlier that it was clean.

However, a quiet rebuke and mod edit were all that was necessary. Hitting a sledgehammer with a thumbtack, or, to use another common colloquialism, to rub salt into the wounds, is to add a ban on top.

I don't know how young kids are these days when they learn about porn, but I was first exposed to it in 2nd grade by a friends' older brother. It's best if kids are introduced to this stuff as it being destructive and contrary to our intended nature, instead of it being introduced to them as something wonderful and secret.

I was just trying to do good. But, I guess like any good Christian, I have to be sacrificed for it, huh?

I believe Dave just needed a pm and not a ban. He is correct in saying that all he needed was a [mod edit], a reason for the [mod edit], and a pm explaining why the [mod edit] was performed, including a more subtle warning against future posts of such links in the future. A full out ban was not called out for.

Posting a link to a video you consider worth sharing from the YouTube site is quite common in all forums throughout TEH INTERWEBZ, and being the video is from YouTube, the poster doesn't even think that there might be links that may be construed as being inappropriate for the forum community. I posted a YouTube video that had an 18 year old or older link from YouTube once a long time ago. I got a pm from a mod back then, and I never ever posted a YouTube video that had an 18 year old or older link ever again. It was a good solution to just outright banning a person for an honest and easy mistake in Forum Land. Dave should have been afforded the exact same treatment that I received for my lack of foresight and ignorance.

Now with my "CockMuncher" avatar, I was pmed by a mod and I immediately dropped the avatar...no problem; but then, all of a sudden, I get an email stating that Twill was banning me for 24 hours, even though I complied with the prior mods warning. This, of course, pissed me off. Even though it was only a 24 hour ban, it will go on my ban wrap sheet and used to make a judgment on whether or not DaGip gets a permaban from forums.

I agree with Dave, I am not giving CC anymore money this year. Lack can thank Twill for making his wallet twenty-five bucks lighter this in 2009.

If no other mod had a youtube account, then I wouldn't have taken the action I did. Or I would have made a youtube account. Mods aren't stupid, and if we have a question about a course of action, we DO discuss it with another (ask any other mod and I'm sure they've asked for other opinions). Contrary to popular belief, mods don't go around locking, warning, editing, and banning just because we feel like it. If it's clear-cut, we take the appropriate action; if it's gray, we ask someone else for their opinion.

And I don't really see how your analogy applies to this situation. And I DO vote.
