Same thing I said to Tom. You already stated this in an earlier post. No need to keep pressing with it and double or triple posting the same comments. I know how you two guys feel about it.

in the background, can there be a faint (or bold) image of ruins, cuz there are a lot of ruins in cyprus, something like this:

maybe just the pillar somewhere on the map to make it a bit more Cyprusy?
cyprus was a nice place, and not just about the politics, so a bit more of the touristy side would be nice...

I'd definitely change the color scheme to something warmer.

I'd like to see an ocean background, but a picture of ruins isn't terrible either.

I also agree that something needs to be changed with Nicosia. It took me a few minutes to realize that it was the same territory on both sides of the buffer zone.

Overall, though, this is looking good.

cyprus was a nice place, and not just about the politics, so a bit more of the touristy side would be nice...

What I was saying was that they had already stated their opinion about the matter already and that I wanted to see what others thought before making any decisions.

However I don't think I want to go with the background image idea. The theme of this map is not about the tourist aspect of Cyprus. It's more about strategic objectives.

Btw Cyprus is still a very nice! Don't use the past tense.

Thanks for the input. I'll see what I can come up with in the next update.

In the meantime I put up a poll for the colour scheme which will run for 7 days.

plus, you could at least have a little pic of the pillar ruin... like Nubian Egypt has on the side...

Colors are too cold -- if it was more red/yellow-themed instead of blue-themed it would look better.

Very, very good idea! I love the UN demilitarized zone as an impassable. Very clever.

One thing: shouldn´t the territories in the north be named by their Turkish names, e.g. ´Girne´ for Kyrenia? That is the political reality. Using the Greek names is a way of siding in the conflict, and I don´t think you are looking for that.

1) I dont care that much for the colors
2) Do you need in the legend to put how many neutral some places are gonna start out with? cause people will know when the play
3) You say 'Hold 2 = something' for some of the things, yet they're will be only 2 of that, so why not put 'all' or just 'hold'?

I put the number of neutrals in the legend to make things more clear and easily understandable from the first time you look at the map. I don't think it does any harm. Sometimes I look at some of the maps in the foundry or ones that have even been quenched and I cannot understand the gameplay at a first glance. I think this is one of the requirements for forging a map.

About the Hold 2 issue, someone already commented on that in the first page. That will be fixed in the next update. I will be using Hold both instead of 2.

This is the first time I've looked at this map, and I just have a strange feeling that something is lacking.... I can't quite put my finger on it.... It might be the 'coldness', or the fact that at first glance it appears to be an identikit of your Malta/San Marino maps...

I'm going to avoid passing judgement at the moment, and will wait to see what inspiration you get from your balcony

Nice start here Ruben. You've used the dead map space wisely. Just a few quick comments for now.

• I'm not a fan of the coloUrs either. Kind of interesting land patterns you used, but it feels to gray.
• The red British area borders don't look good. They are not consistent, and I almost think I see the black borders underneath them.
• In fact, all the outer borders need cleaned up.
• The ripple/blotch background needs improving. I would go for the ocean background, and dress it up some.
• Like some others said, the Nicosia needs changed. either a North / South, or a passage through the border.
• I really like all the special bonuses you can get. The star icons look good, but the "snowflake"? and the map circle could use some tweaking.

I'll try to offer some better suggestions later.

I actually do like the colors... the only one i dont like is the continent in which Pakhna is a part of, its too bright compaired to everything else and is out of place i feel...

having lived in Cyprus , im really happy ur making this map....i lived there on the army base (army brat) and would love to see you bring some political tension to this map. Does this type of map not appeal to you ruben?

Hmm. Actually Hulmey I don't know what you mean.

Political tension is one of the aspects I gave to this map if you read well my initial post and the gameplay options. Maybe I'm missing something in your comments?

Btw I didn't know you had lived on Cyprus Hulmey. Which one of the two bases where you living in?

Lovely and interesting map Ruben.

I truly do understand some of the reservation regarding the colour scheme... but i think this is totaly about our stereotype of what we associate with Cyprus:- Sun, sand and sea.

We can see from all of the comments that people have this idealised tourist version of island in mind - (ruins, pillars etc.)

With this 'bias' based largely upon climate (not political) in mind (a bias i have too) it is inevitable that we are more comfortable with warm hues and tones... people want browns and oranges and the odd palm tree i am sure

Your frustration at people not getting what you have in mind is tangible (with the odd silly statement about it being based on your mild colour-blindness for good measure)

I confess that the colour scheme which you have chosen evokes more of a cold war Soviet Union feel.. it make me think more of post World War II Berlin than a Sunshine Island in the Mediterranean!
On reflection and based on my understanding of the acute divisions in the islands based on territory, religion and the historical enmity! .... I understand why you chose the colours.

As colour and graphics create the character and personality of the map, I think perhaps you need to explain it a little more so you can get people on-board.

i do think that perhaps a beautiful turquoise Ocean could give it a nice feeling of contrast for the senses (political unrest and complexity evoked by the territory colouring, juxtaposed against the beauty of the Mediterranean .. just a thought)

I don't have time to read everybody's perspective ideas. But wanted to give you some input since there was a callout in our forum.

I dislike the color scheme. It is soft and gentile, but there should be MORE contrast between bonuses.

The +2 Greek bonuses and +2 Turkish bonuses are denoted with Stars. The problem is that they are the same stars. Make them different to avoid confusion. Possibly Flags of each country? Or the major color of each country? Anything to distinguish them.

Final point. Cyprus is changing as we speak. The "no mans land" that has been present since the 1970s due to the Turks invading may be changed this year. It is under debate to let the Greeks back in to their homes and live there once again. But I guess you could make a new map then. It will be a joyous time.
