Wow, way to give the Dragoons a bad name. I'm sure they're thrilled with you about now.

Just an FYI, that is grounds for negative feedback.

He made an earlier thread bragging about his internet connection, and saying only friends were invited. An invite would not have helped. Just trying to stoke the fires between clans. Go Dragoons

Bragging? I simply stated I like my internet connection, I was lucky to get the game. And I sincerely doubt you would have invited me if you had control of the 2,000,000 game; why is stating that I'm not going to invite random people I don't know a bad thing? Seriously, think about it.

Some might call it wrong, but if the PW is so obvious, was it wrong of me to do this, and than give the PW to fellow clan members so they could join. Does making the game truly give someone exclusive rights to that game if if it's PW protected with a ridiculously easy PW. If so, than I guess we are operating on an honor system of sorts that says don't join a private game if you're not invited even if you know or guess the PW.

If you could guess my PIN number, does that make it okay to use my debit card? Private games are called private for a reason.

And yes, I guess you could call it an "honor" system. Its kind of on the "honor" system that you don't break into my house; the locked door is just extra protection, like a password. Even if the lock is easy to pick, (or my hide-a-key is easy to find), that doesn't make it okay to break in and throw a party for your friends.

Let me quote my first post ever here, which was also directed at you:
And to the person above me: If you don't have anything to say about the topic, why even post? I have a hard time reading a**hole, but I seem to manage.

Really, even when I agree with you, I find it hard to understand why you act like you do. You're the stereotypical internet troll, who can't help but insult strangers in every other post. I don't care whether your RL is incredibly happy, or so depressing that you feel the need to make yourself superior online, I really pity people like that.

(I even now realize that I'm putting myself one step closer to a mildly irritating fate: every thread I post in will soon have owenshooter and at least one like-minded individual there, telling me how inferior I am. )

yes it is wrong, but nothing stops you from just remaking the game. so it's no big deal.

For me the number doesn't matter, but it couldn't have been remade because they all 3 joined before we knew one of them did...

So an overwhelming majority says it's a dickish thing to do. What a suprise.

The security of a property is inversely proportional to the determination of the person trying to get break into it. OK, so it is slightly more complex than that (security precautions, skill of person, equipment possessed by person etc) but still, that is the major factor. Just because it is easy to break into doesn't mean you should. It is an appeal to morals and I know they differ from person to person, but your excuse wouldn't hold in a court.

I think its perfectly ok, for the situation because it was the 2000000th game. I would have rather seen t be a BR or at least a public 8 player game. Allowing the game to be for TheBro's friend's only is unacceptable. However, in any other case I would say guessing passwords is wrong.

How is this even a discussion? I don't have time to read through all the posts, but I can not fathom a reason that this would be considered acceptable.

If I can guess the combination on a bike lock, then I have the right to take it? If I have the ability to rob a bank, then I should do it? If I have the ability to hack into a computer system, I can crash it? If I can climb the fence that says private property, then no problem?

I would ask for a justification to joining a private game that you aren't invited to, but I know I won't take the time to reread this thread. There in none.

With that said, it isn't a big deal, these are just games. But there is no reason to do this.

If you take the view that nothing done in a computer game can be wrong, then no, it wasn't wrong. But if you're willing to admit that some things, even online, can be considered dumbass moves, then this is one of them.

First, I can't believe I even looked back here, but.....

please tell me when ethics apply and when they do not. This is probably the same excuse used to cheat at Candyland against a young child because it is only a game and they didn't see you do it. Don't worry about right or wrong, it's just a game. I'm sure that this type of behavior doesn't say anything about anyone's true character.

Like so many today I suppose right or wrong only applies when that individual person is being wronged.

It is just a game. That does not mean that ethics are thrown out the window.

If I guess the password to your name and trash your account, Is it still just a game? If you got banned because someone guessed what your password was and used your account, would you be back with a "its ok, its just a game"? Cause I guessed a password in a computer game. yeah, it destroyed your account, but its a "computer game" so it doesn't matter?
A password is a password, no matter how it is used. It's to keep people out. If that was your game (lucky # 2,000,000) and a bunch of members of Spamalot guessed the password and joined, would you be fine with it?
