Americans cannot be considered stupid because a major definition of stupid is:lack of intelligence. Saying that Americans are stupid is very subjective because we all know that there are very smart and famous people in our world that are Americans. However, we could say that many Americans lack the desire for anything except money. A good example is that some Americans do not know what's happening outside of USA and some Americans only work for their wage, not their interest.
P.S.:This is no attempt to anger any American Conquer Club members in this reply.

ok heres a couple of things i would like to add ...
1. what if someone took a camra to say ... the uk and did the excat same thing i think after a while we will find some people that do the same thing ....

You're right, but to me literacy rate could be misleading. What language is literacy suppose to refer to? If a country's citizens is good in say, French but not good in English does that mean they have a low literacy rate?
