There are certainly third-party, some has special win objectives that's stated in the post.

"Scum" and "Mafia" are interchangeable terms for the faction that is opposed to "Town". There may also be Cults, or 3rd party players as well.

Saying "But I am definitely scum." could just be a mistake by an inexperienced player, or it could be a Freudian slip, or it could be an attempt to deflect from an earlier mistake. In any case, it doesn't look good.

Thanks for explaining that, I didn't realize scum and mafia were equal from the previous comment. I'm going to go for a smoke. I know more but I'm f*cking confused in general at this point. If this shit gets any more weird, I don't even know how to keep up.

The first day is generally chaos. There is little or no concrete evidence to go by, so people tend to pick apart every statement to look for a reason to vote for one person over another.
