um, how about this? why would someone toss a game to their opponent & then report said opponent for holding them hostage? makes absolutely no sense to me... :-s .

Making no attempt to win the game doesn't mean anything to you?

who says he didnt try to win? it's a 1 v 1 game, on a shit tiny map that you could feasibly look at after a turn or two and go, i'm clearly hosed, i'll just make it quick for my opponent. he's obviously upset about losing, that alone is an indication of a desire to win the game. i dont have a dog in this fight but come on man, he got his ass whipped from the start and was already pissed about it. why pile on with a note for game throwing?

I did attack the other player, the first round I had nothing touching him and lost a 6 on 3 and then never had any territoirs I could ever attack from, what a joke! I would love to see any of you mods try and win a game when you cant win a roll.

If you are going to site me for throwing the game, go back at the logs and tell me exactly how I could have done anything different. He had a juge stack against my territories from round one and I could not attack at ALL. For you to say i threw the game is complete bullshit. He had a stack of 60 to take out 4 territories of singles and drug it out. Complete bullshit finding Semp, complete bullshit!
Let's break down the ruling. Keep in mind that no WARNINGS were issued, but two NOTES were given.

1. Holding Hostage generally happens with a very long round count of the game being unable to end when it should have been. I had a previous ruling where the accused was banned for one month in the end for holding me hostage for 35 rounds in a 50 round game. A game that completed with 10 rounds hardly constitutes holding someone hostage, unless they got dropped all territories except for the one that you were on on Round 1 (which can't happen). You stopped taking territories after round 8, so there are only 2 rounds until the game ended that you were not able to make a valid attack. You have a strong argument that cod is a dick but besides that nothing else.

2. Game throwing generally happens when a player makes no attempt to actually play the game. In the game mentioned in this report, you never once attacked the other player (according to the game log). You, on multiple occasions, took the Resetting Neutrals and deployed on adjacent territories to them. You can make an argument that it was tactical to have these resetting neutrals in the game but you can also make the argument that you never attempted to actually play the game.

Again, no warnings were given. So there is really no need to freak out here. Just take this as a learning lesson and apply that to further encounters you have in the future.

I hope this clarifies the ruling. :)

Without taking anything away from your explanation, the log doesn't show attacks it just shows a change of ownership of a territory.

Imo both players are pricks

You are absolutely correct. Arguments can be made for both game throwing and not game throwing. I was only trying to provide insight as to why game throwing was presented in this C&A as NOTED for b00060.

Final note: Boo's offensive verbal attack initially unprovoked is not fine by me, or the exaggerated verbal diahorrea displayed here. Yes i accept i could've played more emphatically or shown chivalry in the face of adversity but i didn't feel obligated to feed a rabid dog a bone. I'm not sure what this 'note' means and i'd sooner watch my dog lick her bum than go trawling through the smallprint.

Some amusing comments on this thread i have enjoyed reading like 'NUT' amongst others. This is completely unnecessary, however i accept the ruling from Semp and already moved on. I'd like to wish Boo the best of luck with his games and a soapy rag to wash his mouth out with. (Bit hypocrital i confess)
