Hendersonville, TN is quite nice. I have an Uncle who bought a house on a lake out there. Good place to live, although the humidity kills me when I visit.

Nobody. But it's close to Nashville, and you can have bison if you want to whereas in the city they might not allow it.

If we picked WA it would be either near the coast or around George.

No idea, but my Uncles house looks like it was more than 300k. But you could probably find a cheaper one if it wasn't lakeside.

The thing I love about Mass is that we're kinda proud at how we're perceived as being immense assholes. It's almost a point of civic pride.

Although CT is stuck up.

Anyways, sounds like you were out in eastern PA. I'm in Pittsburgh, and although I might be a little biased for living here all my life, it's much nicer out here. Not as historic, but I like it better.

Yeah, eastern PA.. Live here actually. I think i've grown bias too from living here my whole life.. But my bias goes the other way, in that I resent it. I mean, its not the worst place.. I've seen worse.. Mostly just really think philly is awful in every way.. And Scranton, where I live, isn't a very clean city, in my oppinion.. I don't expect it to be much better elsewhere, but its still blah. Haven't been been to Pittsburgh that I can recall, so I can't really say how it is out that way.

The state of Euphoria.

Not sure what the conversion rate is at the mo, too lazy to look it up, but $300,000AUD wouldn't get you anything in an Australian city anymore

Queensland is my favourite state to live in. Beaches, Great Barrier Reef, rainforests, amusement parks, one of only four legally climbable bridges in the world...the list goes on

Colorado sucks, Utah has backward laws(watered down beer) but lots of cool people in it(Salt Lake area)
Pennsylvania has a nice country side(lancaster), Mississippi is religiously backwards.

Id go with Oregan, Montana, or Michigan. Though Id prefer Peurto Rico

Yes, I realize that, I was just throwing it out there in a fyi.

Also, someone mentioned coming to Michigan, and I'll just say, if you do, go to Traverse City. If I ever left Detroit, and didn't want to go to another big city for some twisted reason, I'd go there. Beautiful.

Well, let's briefly take bison out of the picture.

My initial response was Vermont!, (Maine and New Hampshire are kinda in the same picture), but the winters can be rough. However, the culture is bizarrely appealing, the landscapes are lovely, and you're still in close proximity to civilization.

The Southeast, stretching anywhere from East Texas to North Carolina, is VERY affordable and mostly very verdant and beautiful, but you're likely to have neighbors you might find unpleasant. If you have kids, the school districts in the rural Southeast will likely be intolerable.

The coastal Pacific Northwest is, of course, among the most amazingly beautiful places in the world. Farms there are fertile and even profitable!, as long as you don't mind illegally hiring Guatemalans to pick your raspberries and hazelnuts. However, land prices are quite high and probably always will be.
