Serbia, I've never been anything but courteous to you, but you take every opportunity to twist my words and try to make me sound like some kind of mutant asshole from hell. It's sad.

People use analogies to illustrate points all the time, and it's understood that analogies are strictly limited in scope. I used the wife-beating example to illustrate the fact that one shows concern about the suffering of another and tends to want to help. I didn't at any point say that betiko's suffering was or would be equal in magnitude to the beaten wife. Obviously the one is much more serious than the other. I didn't need you to explain that to me. An analogy can be useful, without the magnitude of the situations being comparable. If you didn't filter everything I say through your unrequited hate, I wouldn't have to explain this.

It's not hate. I think you're a good guy, but the examples you use are poor at best. Analogies are just fine, they illustrate a point. I use them all the time. But they have to make sense contextually. If you use a bad example, it lets assholes like myself make you look like an even bigger asshole. And the analogy should be somewhat comparable. If I tell my wife to go make me something to eat, and she tries to compare that with being a slave in the American south circa 1803, wouldn't that be a gross overstatement and racially insensitive? Even if she's doing it in jest, the joke is in very poor taste. Too frequently this is what you do, and it detracts from your actual point.

Yeah, sometimes my analogies are a bit weak in retrospect. Anyway, it's long past my bedtime. Thanks for the civil response.

A better analogy would be walking in on a bdsm party where you suspect one of the subs is really not enjoying his/her time and her signs/flags are being ignored by the other attendants. Still not a great example, but better tone.

I remember being shocked that it was working at all; I was really pushing the envelope, even hoping you'd catch on that I couldn't possibly be serious about anything I was saying, but you fell so hard for it that you actually foed me, and obviously STILL hate me. And yes, I find this to be one of the funniest things I've ever experienced on the interwebz.

Waauw, Serb's thread is funny, and it's very clear to me that he was trolling you. I'm sure he meant no harm, but I expect the fact that it is a topic your are passionate about increased your vulnerability to his trolling, and I think he misjudged that aspect.

I'm going to let you in on a secret, Serb's a teddy bear.

Lots of websites have a policy of not feeding the trolls. Here, we invite them in, shack up with them, pay for their kids' college tuition, and leave them a generous selection of wines and cheeses on the bedstead at night time. =)

Whatever makes you feel self-important there, friend. I never mean to harm or injure. Trolling doesn't inherently require hurting people.
