I am proud to be an "American." I am a part of a vast union of continents, both "North" and "South."

The question is whether or not I'm proud to be a New Yorker. True fact, the city of Toronto was originally called "York." They changed its name because New York ruined the fine name of York and they didn't want to be lumped with those losers.

I'm not from any of the american countries but I'm not proud to not be, I'm glad I'm not from any of them but there's no pride in what you aren't, just as I'm not proud to not be a Gorilla. I'm proud to be from Sweden however, even though our public elected officials are doing everything they can to ruin the country.

For example, Black Pride isn't about being extremely accomplished at producing melanin, it's about having self worth, a sense of belonging, and a solidarity among those who go though the same trials as oneself. Counter-productive or not, many people crave meaning in their lives, and regardless of the race, class, sexuality, or nationality they are born as, they want to feel accepted.

All the same, I'm more likely to accidentally blow some fingers off than go into a full blown social alienation discussion.

Not really. No one should be ashamed of what they were born as. The American ideal I am proud of claims that all men are created equal. I want to believe in that, and hope that is someday realized for men AND women born of every sort. White people have been born just as good as everyone else, and should be proud of it. All pride is only awful when it is used as a vehicle to put others down, preaching that we are not equals and cannot live together; accepting each other for who we are.

Sooooo, 12% of American citizens are not proud to be American citizens.

It would suck even more to be as ignorant as you are. The only thing I said is there are consequences, and they are clear as daylight to anyone who gives an ounce of thought to their actions and their policies. You seem to be saying there are no consequences, but that's only because you're dumb as shit. If you just kept to yourself with your stupidity I wouldn't have a problem, and it blows my mind how people like you who know so little about issues can be so passionate about those issues.

Case in point: America is losing millions more jobs every year than America is creating, and yes fiscal Progressivism is at the heart of that issue. How long do you think that can continue without having severe consequences? Oh, our children will just go on welfare? Where the F do you think that welfare money comes from? Do you really not understand that welfare money is only possible when an economy thrives? Let me guess your response: we can just print all the money we need, which is what we are doing now. But that cannot continue forever either without doubling and tripling gasoline and milk prices. Because that is exactly what printing money does; it destroys our money's purchasing power. So go ahead, pretend there are no consequences and shrug it off as your children can go on welfare and be dominated by Socialism. All you will have is free money that buys less and less.

Which is where the real racism of our time exists, as I stated elsewhere recently. Only minorities can be proud of their heritage and traditions and their race, but when it comes to white people, 'oh no you don't! you can't do that because you are white!" When it comes to Christians trying to practice their religion freely 'oh no you don't! Our courts only protect non-Christians religion!" When it comes to American citizenship "oh no you don't feel proud to be an American! there is nothing special about America" but when it comes to illegal immigration, all of a sudden "they have every right and deserve to be American, and only they can be proud."

That would seem correct, until you compare that with the % of American's working. This chart is a tad old, right now the labor participation rate is 58%.



So the next question is: How can the labor force be dropping so drastically, and unemployment dropping at the same time?

One of them doesn't include students, senior citizens, or people who have stopped looking for work, one of them does. Not to mention it is an absolute reality that many full time jobs, especially manufacturing, have disappeared completely, while other full time jobs have been replaced by part time positions with less benefits and sometimes no benefits at all. Unemployment %'s can be tinkered with, and has been polished and re-polished for decades. UNEMP % is what everyone pays attention to and is prime in what gets people re-elected, but hardly anybody pays attention to the labor force %. Probably one of the things that makes me a fiscal Conservative, moving beyond basing things solely on unemployment, there is so much more to know. Going with just UNEMP % is like going with core inflation numbers that come out every month. What the public at large does not pay attention to is that energy and food are exempt from that number, and when ya think about it, there aren't many things that are more important to survival than food and energy, and there are other tricks like adding electronics which are deflationary, which means the true rates are not reflected. Not to say electronics are not part of the big picture, but just like with unemployment %, politicians need to keep a lid on inflation. Nobody looks at healthcare and tuition either, those aren't just inflation, those are things politicians pretend they can 'control' based on promised to get votes and deliver on things that are almost as important as food and energy and almost everyone needs at some point. And then automobiles come into play as well, which can get tricky when it comes to depreciation, because who says the sticker price on the car is the actual value of the car, when many people know they are overpriced on purpose, kinda like the diamond trade. But that's another topic for another day, hope that makes sense.
