i think it is wrong, not because i'm a fan of spamalot or because i like spam in general, but simply for the fact that the whole flames sub-forum should have been deleted before spamalot. that was the main priority.

Its the fact that other more actually spam threads were not deleted that has got people miffed I think. Spamalot was only minimally more spam then longest thread, thread if not equal. I personally see no reason why either should have gone. If spam was the promblem then perhaps king of the hill should have gone that is nothing but pure spam, mindless fun to describe crushing the oposition but spam nonetheless. And certainly more spam then spamalot

Personally, if space is truly the concern here, I think posts that have been inactive for 6 months or even a year should be deleted with a clear statement posting such, so its not subjective. cheating ones might have to stay, but certainly any flame a year old has pretty much served its purpose.
If it was deleted only on the basis that it was spam, I think perhaps the 4000 or so posts AK has made could be looked at....I mean seriously...hes played 800 or so games...and has 4 or 5 times as many posts...and ive seen as much spam from him as anyone. Now I understand many of that count are official, but I doubt that will account for more than half. Not to mention, many of his posts really do have a condescending tone... bordering on outright negative.
It seems to me he deletes subjectively, with personal motives. If thats the policy in here than so be it, but to me subjectively deleting posts is going to be damn counter productive to fostering a positive attitude in here.
Im not suggesting all spam should be allowed. Im sure half of my posts are one liner sarcastic jibes...some positive, some negative that I posted only to make myself feel like im funny...some probably were...some definitely werent....but, the forum is the place where most communicate, and it that communication is going to be subjectively deleted for what many consider personal reasons...it will probably result in far less of it....and therefore far less interested players...ie less players
Personally, i have nothing against AK. Hes just a 21 year old kid trying to handle a lot of responsibility, but I do think he could show a little more professionalism, if the goal of this site is to be professional.
I once before suggested a clear policy statement about the requirements for deleting threads....I once again think it may be a good idea to either start gaining space somewhere else, or make it clear to everyone which threads will be deleted, and which wont. Otherwise, this will be a never ending battle, that will never make the site a better place.

You guys were told on April 1st that is was going to be locked/deleted.
You had one month and 15 days to complain.
You had your chance.
Ding ding ding, don't you see the problem in your argument?
I think Ak got pissed off the day he deleted it...Did he do the right thing? I don't know and I am not the judge on that.

No irony intended (this one coming after) but Fitz's post appears well balanced, slightly self-effacing and looks like a damn fine place to end.
(I only add that it would be nice to try to keep some of the mindless abuse in FlameWars)

I'm suprised the poll's so even. We knew the spammers were having a negative effect on the community, but didn't realize people were that annoyed.
And Iliad, the evidence of your recent trolling was deleted, you know that.

You alone are doing the most damage for your cause, and turning more people away from siding with you IMO.

heres my short version story of what happened
it was a normal day for anyone but then Ice comes along and changes author and veiws of Spamalot. Ice was saying that it was a joke, but Vince did not like having the author being changed (who wouldnt honestly)
so they get into an argument of who should be getting a sense of humor, and then hecter comes along and makes the argument worse, but before you know how this was going to end Ice suddenly deletes Spamalot and anything related to it...(the Pirates and Ninjas and such) in my point of veiw this was mod abuse (im not saying this because im a Spamalot Knight but because the whole bullshit fight resulted in deletion)
A mods purpose is to bring order, not cause trouble

the Spammers never bothered me one bit!!
I didn't like the thread so I didn't participate or even go there.
My question is...
How come the thread wasn't locked and was deleted instead.
What was so bad about it. to have it deleted?

The info I got from my source is that the people on the thread started telling jokes, then AK told a very racist joke. No one laughed. When people started asking him to leave the thread based on that action, AK deleted the thread.
He just didn't want to be told off because he violated one of the forum guidelines.
And I'd like to go on record as someone who didn't think that AK should have been made a mod in the first place.

I was telling some nasty jokes and Ice came in and told one too (gotta admit i liked that one)

Oh do shut up. Go read the thread on the matter (Lack I have a letter for you; now locked).
It's been more than adequately explained that:
1. This is not about deleting spam threads; it's about capricious moderator actions. It's a complaint about AK acting in a discriminatory matter.
2. Furthermore, it has been conceded by many that Spamalot was not 'all spam', and that the spam contained there was not 'just spam'.
3. It's has also been noted on multiple occasssions that the benefits of a Spamalot thread outweighed the drawbacks of any spam contained therein.
So sorry Max. You just said something dumb. Go do your homework, there's really nothing more to be said about this subject until we get a comment from Lack, Andy or AK.
It's high time we stopped posting about the issue ad infinitum; but I refuse to just sit about and listen to people make ignorant posts insulting a group of which I am a member.
Remember: Ignorant one line opinions = just as worthless as spam, but more annoying.
I even believe the longest thread thread is spam I wouldn't mind if that was deleted. I believe king of the hill is spam. etc. etc. etc.
I believe the duplicate suggestions in the suggestions area is spam.
I believe that all the spam should be deleted I don't want to have to rummage through a load of spam to get to the stuff that is important

Are you using Firefox?
Tools-->Options-->Advanced-->General-->Browsing-->Check my spelling as I type
check it and you'll never misspell again.

I know Spamalot feels slighted. But I hope they are looking at this poll, and reading the entire community's reaction, with open minds. It should become clear to them that mindless spam and hijacking threads is not as liked as they once believed.

Ok guys look AK as we all know did so weird stuff and said some weird stuff before and after deleting Spamalot.
1. He tried shortly before deleting the thread to cut a BULLSHIT deal with me where if I find one post that was edited by him he will stop. I asked him politely just give the authorships rights back ( I couldn't stand having someone be the author who HATES Spamalot).
2.What sent him over the edge was that I was going to notify Lack with a letter (which I did). Also Dancing Mustard's words I think he took to heart about bullying, This helped him go off the edge (but he had to hear it).
3.Next he wouldn't let anyone make a new thread. We coundn't even complain until like 45 mins later. There was nothing but silence and any thing that was posted was deleted instantaneously. Once this happen I realized Why keep posting, He IS ON A WILD TANGENT. This is when I wrote the letter.
What I know is Andy is taking care of it.
There must be something done about this soon.

I assure the people who voted that AK was right are probably not aware of the situation completely. They probably play games and just vote polls. The people who truly love this forum and are on everyday are in support .
