That seems counter intuitive to me. I would be joining tournaments all the time if points were suspended. Further, how can you farm if their are no points. Tournaments should be about victory and not points. Most people I know join tournaments to get the medal or test themselves. I have never heard anyone say they are joining a tournament to gain points...iAmCaffeine wrote:That would kill off tournaments more than they already have been, and see a great increase in the amount of farming tournaments which are already too abundant as it is.loutil wrote:Those are both good suggestions but clearly went nowhere.Metsfanmax wrote:Relevant suggestions:

I would love to play more tournaments but hate the point beating I usually take even when winning. Suspending points for tournament play would be a good idea in my opinion. Rank would not matter as we would just be playing for medals.

I was not referring to Clan tournaments like CC5 which are really multi team wars. Rather, I was referring to regular tournaments set up by players. Even the Monthly challenges are uninviting to higher ranked players which is why they almost never participate.JPlo64 wrote:Terrible idea.loutil wrote:That seems counter intuitive to me. If it weren't for points in tournaments, not only would I have almost 0 games for actual points, I would still be a lieutenant (or worse) and would have never joined a clan.
I know what you mean by some tournaments not being point friendly, even when winnable. But, they're still games, and if you're not willing to risk the points, then don;t play.
I disagree for the monthly challenges. Some are very inviting to high ranked players. This month for example. And btw I am playing in many tournaments. Of course my score is subject to a lot of variations day to day and I won't stay as high as I am now for very long, but you can still maintain a high score, play monthly challenges and tournaments. Many brigs play tournaments without a problem. You just have to accept that your score won't be stable. And I almost never play someone that would make me lose a 100 points, players with such a low score are rare in tournaments.I was not referring to Clan tournaments like CC5 which are really multi team wars. This months challenge is certainly more inviting than most as 1 v 1 poly style usually favors the better player and reduces dice variance. But, when looking at the scoreboard for most challenges it is obvious that it does not attract very many higher ranked players.Donelladan wrote:I disagree for the monthly challenges. Looking at the scoreboards isn't often very helpful because you'll just see the low-mid ranks who've gotten challenge points by spamming games. Not always, but usually.loutil wrote:This months challenge is certainly more inviting than most as 1 v 1 poly style usually favors the better player and reduces dice variance.
