@ Anarchist:
Here is Claudio, the lead singer of Coheed and Cambria, doing some funky stuff to prove how awesome his band is:
But seriously, they're a prog-rock/metal band that rock the house in a big way. All of their work is structured like an opera, so each album is a chapter in a five part story, and each song is a scattered collection of scenes. I guess you'd have to check it out before I even sounded like I made sense:
Here's their Purevolume page, it's got a couple of streaming tracks on...

The album, which is tentatively titled “No World for Tomorrow”, is set to be released this Fall, and is said to be the last chapter in the ongoing saga of Coheed and Cambria Kilgannon, the main characters in a story that wraps all the bands “concept albums” into one.
Bastards, thats exactly what i would do!

They're great, aren't they?
Many of their greatest songs are in the first two albums. But The Final Cut should top most of them off.

I am so stoked about that album.... But I thought the last album in the five was going to be the first part of the story? There's only been albums 2, 3 and 4 so far (Turbine Blade, Silent Earth and Good Apollo)... meh, I guess I should save this for some sort of Coheed worship thread.

I am a huge Coheed and Cambria fan, but if you are talking about the greatest rock band of all time, that's got to be Led Zeppelin. No contest.

I would suggest re-doing this poll in a more organized manner.
Keep the nominations the way you were doing it - i like that. 3 nomiations to get into the running. Then, once you have compiled a list of, say, 32 competitors, set the voting up March Madness style like this
with each band being a spot instead of whatever LCS hockey is.
Then, start a new thread for each match up, and have it last a week or so, and the band with the most votes moves on.

The greatest rock and roll band only made one album. Eric Clapton, Stevie Winwood, Ginger Baker, and Rich Gretsch - Blind Faith.

The Beatles, a "young upstart pretender band"? Who do you like, Lawrence Welk?
