You know, I would think the media would be libertarian. But, sadly, they are not.

This is why Ron Paul will never win anything --
Over the weekend, Republicans in the 37th Legislative District gathered to choose delegates to the state GOP convention.
The caucus started out Saturday morning inside Dimmitt Middle School. But it didn't end inside the building.
After supporters of Texas Congressman Ron Paul elected one of their own to chair of the meeting, the gathering was booted to an outside basketball court by King County Republican Party Chairman Lori Sotelo.
The move came after attendees irritated Sotelo by rejecting her choice to run the caucus - King County Councilman David Irons.
Instead, the group voted for Tamara Smilanich, a Paul supporter.
That prompted Sotelo to declare the meeting was no longer a Republican Party event.
Even though the GOP had reserved the room until 2 p.m., the meeting was pushed outside to the basketball court at about 12:30 p.m. The caucus finished its business outside in the sun, and elected 11 Ron Paul supporters to the state convention, which begins May 31 in Tacoma.
Scott had a point that CNN's "delegate totals" from those states using the caucus system versus the primary system are just estimates and presume Romney's supporters actually show-up to county caucuses and state conventions ... which the media have failed to report they've been failing to do. But that doesn't matter when the system is rigged. The episode in the State of Washington reminds me of a book by the great socialist writer Jack London ...
`You have no souls to be influenced. You are spineless, flaccid things. You pompously call yourselves Republicans and Democrats. There is no Republican Party. There is no Democratic Party.'
Here the shouting and the cries of `Order! order!' drowned his voice, and he stood disdainfully till the din had somewhat subsided. He waved his hand to include all of them, turned to his own comrades, and said:
`Listen to the bellowing of the well-fed beasts.'
Pandemonium broke out again. The Speaker rapped for order and glanced expectantly at the officers in the doorways. There were cries of `Sedition!' and a great, rotund New York member began shouting `Anarchist!' at Ernest. And Ernest was not pleasant to look at. Every fighting fibre of him was quivering, and his face was the face of a fighting animal, withal he was cool and collected.
The cries of `Sedition!' and `Anarchist!' redoubled.
`I know that you will not vote for this bill' Ernest went on. `You have received the command from your masters to vote against it. And yet you call me anarchist. You, who have destroyed the government of the people, and who shamelessly flaunt your scarlet shame in public places, call me anarchist.'
There was movement in the doorways. Ernest, the Speaker, all the members turned to see.
`Why do you not call your soldiers in, Mr. Speaker, and bid them do their work?' Ernest demanded. `They should carry out your plan with expedition.'
`There are other plans afoot,' was the retort. `That is why the soldiers are present.'
`Our plans, I suppose,' Ernest sneered. `Assassination or something kindred.'
But at the word `assassination' the uproar broke out again. Ernest could not make himself heard, but he remained on his feet waiting for a lull. And then it happened. From my place in the gallery I saw nothing except the flash of the explosion. The roar of it filled my ears and I saw Ernest reeling and falling in a swirl of smoke, and the soldiers rushing up all the aisles. His comrades were on their feet, wild with anger, capable of any violence. But Ernest steadied himself for a moment, and waved his arms for silence.
`It is a plot!' his voice rang out in warning to his comrades. `Do nothing, or you will be destroyed.'
Then he slowly sank down, and the soldiers reached him. The next moment soldiers were clearing the galleries and I saw no more.

Whoever Matt Damon endorses.......wins
It’s very simple, actually. A new poll by CBS New shows that Obama leads Ron Paul by a single percentage point, in a theoretical head-to-head contest. Meanwhile, the margin of error is 3 percent, so it’s a statistical tie.
Matt Damon joining forces with Ron Paul would get the attention of lots of young people, who formerly supported Obama but are now 3 years into their rude awakening.
I can’t imagine Matt Damon parroting Ron Paul’s viewpoints, as a condition of him joining the ticket. Rather, I can see him saying, “I support Ron Paul on X, Y and Z, but not A, B and C. Since “Politics is the art of the possible”, I will join the ticket on this basis.

I hate to say this, but the only reason Ron Paul wins a head to head poll with the president is because people don't like the president and Ron Paul has an "R" next to his name.
And I don't want Matt Damon anywhere near Ron Paul.

Not only does Obama have Democrat Senators saying they are not sure they will even vote for Obama, but now Obama has even lost Matt Damon. Obama can't win without Matt Damon.
The president sounded a little defensive about it too....
Obama responded to Damon’s criticism saying, “It’s fair to say that when it comes to my presidency, the honeymoon is over…Matt Damon said he’s been disappointed in my performance. Well Matt, I just saw the ‘Adjustment Bureau,’ so…right back atcha buddy.”
Yet you are still running scared of my bet

Ron Paul’s 2012 campaign has won the majority of Washington’s delegates to the Republican National Convention, and a number of other states are expected to follow suit, pointing to a hectic convention in which Mitt Romney’s path to the nomination may face a major insurgent opponent.
Washington is now the third state, after Iowa and Minnesota, in which Ron Paul has locked up at least half of the state’s nominating delegates. In order to be officially entered in nomination at the Tampa, Fla., convention, he needs to secure half or more of the delegates in five states, and as of Thursday, he looks poised to grab a majority of delegates in other states like North Dakota and Maine in coming weeks.
Ron Paul’s 2012 campaign has taken an unorthodox tack, hoping to draw state delegates to his camp rather than simply winning the popular vote. As such, he is stacking up delegates who once backed Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum and other fallen candidates.
And the strategy is not unprecedented. Warren G. Harding pulled off a surprise win at the 1920 Republican convention, where he eventually won the nomination despite heading in with the fewest delegates of any remaining candidate. And Harding went on to sweep into the White House.
Even Fox News said this week that Paul’s presence on the ballot at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa ”looks inevitable at this point.”
Nomination Inevitable

Thanks for keeping this thread going Phatscotty. This is a really historic moment for American Political History and a win for all American voters. Our system is as broken as all hell but that hasn't stopped Ron Paul. I sincerely hope that all of those registered Republicans who voted against Paul because they didn't think that he could win are violently kicking themselves for their evil presumption.

The Ron Paul presidential campaign has a guerrilla-style takeover strategy heading into next week’s Nevada Republican Convention at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks.
The campaign wants to dominate the convention by delivering as many as 65 percent of the total delegates to the convention floor.
“Whoever shows up controls the tempo of the meeting,” said Carl Bunce, Paul’s campaign chairman for Nevada.
Those who show up will elect 25 of Nevada’s 28 national convention delegates, as three spots for the state chairman, national committeeman and committeewoman are already taken.
The Ron Paul folks want to stack that number with their people. Other state Ron Paul organizations are doing the same, Republicans said.
“I just came back from the national (Republican National Committee) meeting and everybody was talking about the Ron Paul takeover,” said Heidi Smith, Nevada national GOP committeewoman.

This is a really interesting link, pmchugh. I'm most interested in that Jeb Bush is even showing up. If Ron Paul ends up forcing a brokered convention could Jeb be the compromise candidate that the RNC negotiates with Santorum and Gingrich to replace Romney on the ticket?
I thought he had a few "home states" ... Michigan, Utah, Massachusetts? Just like Obama's "home state" is Illinois or Hawaii, depending on the day of the week. Or the Queen calls England, Scotland, Canada, Barbados, her "home", depending on where she happens to be at the moment.
