if you're doing a bracket (which is different from a round robin), it should be double elimination so that people don't get screwed by a bad round 1 matchup.

or maybe you could try a swiss tournament

the only downside with your 8 player format is that players 1 and 2 (for example) will always be in the same games

Yeah, 91 total games, which is 13 games per person, right?

I'm not familiar with a swiss tournament.

I recognized that issue with the big games, but don't know a way around it. If you know a simple algorithm, or are willing to calculate it out yourself, to provide the same numbers but a better mix, I'm open to it. I do like the ratio of about four singles to one big per player though. Assuming my math is right.

That would be AWESOME. Seriously...I am completely and utterly in favor of this. I cannot stress enough how enjoyable this sounds to me.

Are you thinking total, or 91 games per person? Because I can't really commit to running something like the latter, but i'd be happy to participate lol.

91 total - basically, everyone gets to play everyone else. To my thinking, that's perfect. Well, perfect might be three games against everyone. But I like this!

Wilco. This is mostly what I expect from y'all anyway.

One last logistical question: freemies can reserve/invite to a game, right?

Freemies can be invited and accept the invitation. We can't send out invites, however, or put passwords on games.

Should I buy premium? That is the question.

I was afraid of that. I'm not really interested in encouraging premiumification. I'm ok with just getting creative with game creation. Most of us are already premium, so the main issue stems from when freemium plays freemium (I know it's not completely fair to have premiums always starting games, but the idea is that I don't actually care about the results of this thing; this is an excuse to be silly in game mode).

If we are quick with the joins, no big. But there's always a random lurking to screw it up.

Tl;dr, don't buy premium just for this. If you were on the verge of buying, and this was the last straw to encourage it, go for it. It's helpful. Tbh, I can try to finagle it so that freemies don't play each other, assuming nobody cares enough to cry foul.

Actually, quite a few of us are freemies. I say you just create games until you get your projected opponent. The next round will wait for you.

Yea or nay?

Alternatively, we can abandon the round robin altogether and just do a shit-ton of 8-player games.

I'm not adverse to purchasing premium and was planning on doing so anyway. I was just waiting until the right time. I don't want to BREACH any trusts.

Meh, if you were going to do it eventually, and can afford to do it now, more premies probably = smoother league progression for yourself. The freemies may just have to play a game or two with randoms while trying to set up a matchup. If there are no qualms with this, I'll just continue as planned.

Schedule is up in post 2. Start round one if you are so inclined. Big games to come shortly.

Post game number and results in thread, please.

How many phase 1 1v1 games do I have to play with my teammate?

You're playing one game against everbody else in phase 1. Did I screw something up? And wtf are you talking about teammates?

You didn't know? I get a teammate; no one else does.

I'm lost on the 1v1 part...

I don't get it:

this is round 1:

thegreekdog vs Neoteny
spurgistan vs Inkl0sed
TA1LGUNN3R vs nietzsche
maasman vs whitestazn88
Lootifer vs Haggis McMutton
Woodruff vs BigBallinStalin
john9blue vs Baron von PWN

How many games do I play against Woodruff? 1, 3, or a million?

I went ahead and created all my games.

just one i think.

i guess it doesn't really matter in what order you play people, as long as you've played one 1v1 game against everyone else in the tournament. it's just organized into rounds so that people know who to start with

Lol motherfuck

You guys. One game per person per round. Ignore the blanks and teammates. I'll fix them. Just do round one.

If you haven't joined your BvP game yet, don't. One game at a time dammit, or you'll lose your bonus opportunities. We have to keep the freemies up with us too.

Christ.
