I've been really busy lately, but I added the Vvardenfell scroll, water and got rid of the Strongholds

What are the dots for? There is no way numbers will fit in them...

I think the mountains need to be a lot more clear. Maybe more colorful instead of black squiggles and directly on top of the borders they block.

Assuming I didn't get your impassible borders wrong this is what I think your bonuses should be:

Blue 2
Brown 2
Dark Gray 4
Light Green 6
Orange 3
Light Gray 6
Green 3
Yellow 2

Assuming you didn't have impassible borders then this is what I think you should make your bonuses be:

Blue 2
Brown 3
Dark Gray 5
Light Green 7
Orange 4
Light Gray 9
Green 4
Yellow 4

Also Marandus doesn't have an army circle.

??? I don't know what you are saying

He's questioning what steps you've taken to check into the Copyrights of such a map.

It’s a made up, fictions map. Copyright apply per se (unless the author explicitly put it in the public domain). But it’s an old computer game, what are we talking about? 5 years by now. Don’t think they mind the free publicity for the series. Besides, I’m sure so much copyrighted material has been spread on fans’ forum by now they don’t bother. And computer software guys are pretty soft with these things.

No, you need permission.

Technically - yes.

In practice - probably not.

Besides. Copyrights are just bs anyways... :D

CaptainPlanet - Hmm.... the outline of the map is intriguing. Intriguing indeed. The continents are laid out in a way that opens up for good game play. A lot of opportunities to go for and defend various areas. I like it.

Thanks, I'll make them bigger

I know the mountains suck ass, I just put them there to show the impassible borders. Thanks for the values, they sound good.

I'm thinking about adding a port system to the map, let me know if you guys think that's a good idea or if it's too close to the Stronghold idea

I would stay away from the port idea just keep it simple

Keep the army circles the same color

here is one i made ages ago

this one is a trace of the game map
as you can see mine still has the strongholds but i could get rid of them

I was planning to put mountians about in the same place as captainplanet
also when i was making this it was far from complete in the graphic ways

i dont know which map you prefer, mine is not as far as captainplanet's is

Thanks for the help Telvannia, but I'll just keep going with mine.

Here's the latest update:
Image

I did a lot graphically(ie. no white around the borders and larger army circles), got rid of some territories (54 now), and added a legend. The mountains are still where they were in an earlier version, but I haven't added them yet.

Let me know if there's any other problems, I'm going to be adding the mountains later tonight.

Font direction looks bad (on the vertical ones) as well as the choice of font...its not major but could be better

Telvannia's map has a softer smoother look to it then Captain Planet's, which is kinda rough and blocky.

Seeing as Captain planet has alot of progress in his map, he should countinue it.. but in a different sort of fashion, taking the advantages of telvannia's map, wich is, as stated before, that its smoother and not as blocky..

Maybe you could thin the outer borders a bit, and maybe use thicker borders in place of mountains(at least temporarily until you can fund more suitable ones.

You could reintroduce the strongholds, using then in a way sort of like radiation in the USA apocalypse map, which would be a bonus for holding multiple strongholds, that gradually increases depending on the amount of strongholds. This would work equally well with ports, gaining aditional armies for holding several ports. In fact, it may be interesting to incorperate both.

I was thinking of adding the Imperial Forts (Moonmoth, Buckmoth and Wolverine Hall) to the territory they are in and giving a bonus for holding them. I didn't want to put this in yet because people already said not to add the strongholds and ports, and to keep it simple.

I see what you mean by mine being blockier, I think I might blur the edges and see how that looks.

And I'm going to change the font, it's just not a priority right now

Let me know if this looks blockier:

Well, it does look a bit better. You still have alot of work, as far as graphics go, ahead of you.. But its definately an improvement.

While you've improved the outer borders, I think the inner ones leave alot to be desired. And I don't think the thick outer borders and thin inner borders go well together, though. Maybe lessen the difference in size a bit.

I'm using Fireworks.

I agree with you that the inner borders look bad. I don't like being able to see the individual pixels, but i tried blurring the inner lines and that looks worse. I'll make them thicker and see how that turns out

I made the territory lines thicker, changed the font and got rid of all vertical text:

Let me know if anything needs to be changed

Fonts a bit hard to read and the key is a little hard too. Army circles i would try white

font and key

i think you should change the background of the key. i like the font , but it is a little hard to read so i would consider revising otherwise i like it

I'll change the background on the key, now that I look at it, it is kinda hard to read. I don't know what I'm going to do about the font, I really like this style and it was a pain in the ass and a half to change all of the font. I don't know what I could change it to, I'll try to find something else

anyone like that?

might change the names on the dark red to white rather than the black which is hard to read

The things I don't like about your map are the colors (I don't know why, I just don't like them), the shapes of the territories, and I'm not sure how Dagoth Ur works. Other than that, it looks good.

I changed the font and made the legend white:

Let me know what you guys think, and if I should still change the font.

Font is quite hard to read. Everywhere.

I would lighten up the map too.
