Re: UN authorises No-Fly Zone over Libya

Post by jefjef »

Dear Godaffy worshipers,

There are widespread reports that Muammar Gaddafi has unleashed numerous foreign mercenaries on his people, in a desperate gamble to crush dissent and quell the current uprising.

Their origins vary according to speculation: Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger, Mali, Sudan and possibly even Asia and eastern Europe.

The claims are hard to pin down but persistent. Ali al-Essawi, the Libyan ambassador to India, who resigned in the wake of the crackdown, told Reuters on Tuesday: "They are from Africa, and speak French and other languages."

He said their presence had prompted some army troops to switch sides to the opposition. "They are Libyans and they cannot see foreigners killing Libyans so they moved beside the people."

In a separate interview, Essawi told al-Jazeera: "People say they are black Africans and they don't speak Arabic. They are doing terrible things, going to houses and killing women and children."

Witness accounts seem to bear out the claims. One resident of Tripoli was quoted by Reuters: "Gaddafi obviously does not have any limits. We knew he was crazy, but it's still a terrible shock to see him turning mercenaries on his own people and just mowing down unarmed demonstrators."

It isn't just a bunch of teenagers having a protest and GODAFFY doesn't have the support of the populace and much of his military. It's time the murdering coward POS is buried and Libyans have the right of self determination.

France is a bumbling joke of a country. I wouldn't blame a retard for running over an old woman in a Ford Yukon. I'd blame the guy who gave the retard the keys to the Yukon in the first place.

(In this scenario France is the retard, the US owns the Yukon. :P )

(why is he still a colonel by the way)

The west likes to front caricatures of their opponents as hapless, self-absorbed dictators. Col. Qadaffi is not ostentatious. When he overthrew the absolute monarchy of the US/UK-backed Supreme Sultan who had been ruling Libya (the same Paris-based, rich monarchy that is, in part, backing the current terrorism being inflicted on the Libyan people) he was only a captain in the Army. The Revolutionary Command Council deposed the monarchy in a coup that lasted 5 hours and resulted in zero deaths and 0 injuries and is widely considered the most bloodless, non-violent coup of the 20th century.

The RCC promoted Qadaffi from Captain to Colonel after the liberation. When he left the Army in the '70's the RCC offered to promote him to General but he declined. When he resigned his official government positions in 1980 he was again offered the honorary title but refused. (Not unlike George Washington who was offered a Marshal's baton by Congress but refused, only being promoted to a 5-star rank posthumously.)

Well, keep in mind that the US buys oil from Saudi Arabia, not Libya. Therefore we have a less vested interest than other countries, say France who gets oil from Libya.

A salient point, however, the oil being exported to France is being drilled by Marathon Oil and ConocoPhillips, both US companies. (though the phrase "X-Nation Company" is a bit of a misnomer anyway these days, who knows the actual breakdown in nationalities of the shareholders of Marathon and Conoco; the fact they own a building in Houston or trade on a US exchange is a silly way to determine a company's nationality IMO)

The NATO Death Machine is waking and is thirsty for the blood of women and children after a long nap.

Current mercenary forces committed to supporting the Libyan terrorist groups by nation:

Belgium: 4 F-16 mercenary aircraft committed to No-Life Zone
Canada: 6 F-18 mercenary aircraft
Denmark: 4 F-16s
France: unknown number of Mirage
Luxembourg: 4 E-3s (from NATO shared forces under Luxembourgish flag)
Norway: unknown number of F-16s
UK: unknown number of Tornados

Most astonishingly, five NATO nations have grown a pair and are courageously refused to support the war crimes mission under any circumstances.

Yeah, I have to say that I'm really dissapointed with Canada being in the mix on this.

The stench of big oil is too strong to ignore.

If Qadaffi truly was shipping in mercenaries to slaughter his own, I'm not too confident his military forces would we idle in addressing that.....

The fact that he's gaining the upperhand seems to point that he has a firm grim on the forces at his diposal.

What a fucking mess.

The French and the US puppets in Britain are now announcing that they will not only enforce a no-fly zone, they intend to also establish a no-drive zone and to bomb and strafe Libyan highways.

I wonder how the British would feel if aircraft were laying 20mm rounds on cars on the M-1? How would the French feel if Mark 82s were hitting the Eiffel Tower?

Image

Why don't the French and British war criminal-profiteers do this in Burma? Because they can't. They're too weak. This is a dick-measuring contest for the French and British. Beating up whomever is weaker. Win votes at home by waving the faded flags of their past imperial glory abroad in the non-riskiest way possible. Their lofty goals are pure bile.

Look dude, a lot of us don't want to be involved in this shit either. I'd say more than 50% of US citizens don't want to be in Iraq right now, well over 50% don't want to be in Libya, and we probably didn't want to go to Yugoslavia either. We're not asking for anyone's sympathy, we're asking people to stop asking us to do stuff. When the UN passes a resolution it doesn't mean the UN goes and fights. It means all the member countries kick in a few million dollars, a little bit of equipment, some minor amounts of soldiers and then the US kicks in billions of dollars, more than half the military hardware, and a shitload of troops.

I, for one, don't want to do it anymore. So, in sum, most of us here in the US don't want to get involved anymore.

Any actual news of Air strikes against Gadafi yet? I know they declared a cease fire and then proceeded to launch an offensive.

Sorry. God knows that, owing to my geography of residence, I've gone out of my way on this board to be polite to the point of kow-towing to the Yankees. But Qwert is dead-on when he says this is identical to Serbia '99. To see this hoax play-out a second time is just too much for ol' Sax to keep his cool.

Here's a file picture of one of the pirate ships now off the coast of Libya preparing to commit war crimes. This ship is HMCS Charlottetown and is crewed by 240 pirates. It was commissioned in 1995 and sails out of Halifax.

Image

The Situation: A minor warlord who lives on Sussex Drive in Ottawa has assigned Charlottetown the job of plundering additional Libyan resources for the benefit of Suncor Energy, Inc., (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suncor_Energy) of Calgary, which has already amassed a booty of $66 billion but has suffered due to high royalty payments demanded by Col. Qadaffi in return for its Libyan sands franchise. The royalty payments have helped finance Libya's GMR aqueduct system, the world's largest civil engineering project in history that has been under continuous construction since 1989 and has brought clean water to Berbers deep in the Libyan desert and improved the lives of hundreds of thousands. Suncor wants to keep the money for themselves, though, so has contracted with the local pirate outfit to introduce a government that won't charge as high royalties. Many Berber villages will dry-up and die if Suncor and their CF mercenaries are successful.

Poll Question:
Do you want Suncor and their CF mercenaries to succeed in stopping the Libyan people from getting clean drinking water or do you want the Libyan people to be successful in stopping greedy Suncor and the mercenaries from stealing?

It's probably the language barrier. If you polled most US people, they would not want to go to war in Libya. Our government is not representative of our people (shocking, I know).

I made a five-minute video tribute to the Libyan people - and all internationally-minded peace and democracy activists - at the sunset of their nation as the NATO wolves gather.

(This even features a rare video clip inside the plenary chamber of the National Volkshammer (parliament) of the democratic-sector of Germany on May Day 1985!)

THX. One of Saxi's fav Canadian folk song, haven't heard it for quite a long time. Used to know how to play that on my accordian long time ago.

Don't approve of Charlottetown's mission but I do hope the crew stay safe (enlisted ratings and petty officers, I mean) and they fare better than Barrett.

But yeah, it sure sounds great on the accordion (or "Acadian" as we call them around here. Squeeze 'em for all they're worth, right. lol).
