Kentucky played great, after Ohio State hit a 3 pointer to tie the game,
the Wildcats scored with 4.5 or so seconds left and held on to win it.
All the #1 seeds are dominant so far in the Women's Tournament,
the #11 Zags beat #3 UCLA and face #7 Louisville next,
who eliminated #2 seed Xavier to advance.

Stats schmats...best guard, possibly. Best point guard? Diana Taurasi, hands down.

Zags just beat #7 Louisville.....they are now the lowest ranked team to reach the elite 8.
Another record.

After their coach was on the show PTI on ESPN, I'm rooting for Butler to win the men's.

With Butler playing this year's Cinderella in the semi finals they certainly have a good shot at returning to the Championship Game and Kentucky has a chance to avenge their only lopsided loss of the year against the Huskies. Both games should be great.
Then again... nobody thought VCU had any chance against Kansas.

It should be another good one, Butler is no Cinderella,
even with UConn on a roll.
I did think UK had 'em today after erasing
a 10 point UConn lead in the second half.

Butler decided right away in the 2nd half that they couldn't win the game. You could see it in their eyes and by the way they shot the ball. It was like a deer looking in the headlights before being run over.

The first half of the game was intense, heavily contested with lots of impressive
DEFENSE and Butler squeezed out a 3 point lead at the half with a buzzer beater
from behind the arc, but both teams were shooting miserably.
Butler missed a stoopid number of lay ups and shots in the paint,
as well as free throw attempts. UConn took advantage of all
their easy shots... when they got the opportunities.
I suppose you have to credit the UConn defense for rattling Butler,
because they were uncharacteristically off in all facets of their
game... except for transition defense.
Butler had managed to win all their "ugly" games and this one sure qualified as that,
but the wheels really came off the cart in the second half. I think they set a record
for poorest shooting percentage in the tourney and a final.
Congrats on an fabulous season for UConn, who went 32-9 with all nine loses
coming from teams in the Big East Conference. The win streak that carried them
through the Big East Tourney and NCAA Tourney is an amazing accomplishment.

It's over now...
Texas A&M won their first National Championship beating Notre Dame 76-70
in a contest with all the nail biting drama the men's game lacked. It was tied
with three minutes to play and tight all the way to the end with the Aggies
icing the game at the foul line.
Both teams had beaten two #1 seeds to reach the final, including wins over
conference rivals who had already beaten them three times this year.
