<laughing out loud> Dude, that's my sad, little world...I gotta pretend to be good at pretending to play war. <grin>

Note three changes I just made to the rules:

1) Change to the premium prizes (to account for the hard work involved in the decathlon and because I realized I have much more in my "savings bank" of premium prizes from previous tournaments).
2) A team captain may continue to add names to their team up until we're ready to start.
3) Each individual team member may compete in a maximum of five separate events (which includes the relays).

An athlete may only be allowed to enter a maximum of five events (including the relays) OR the decathlon. However, each individual member cannot enter a single event more than once. If an athlete participates in the decathlon, they are ineligible for all other events. An athlete may, of course, enter as few as one event.

Woodruff, I like that you have no limit to the number of athletes on a team. However, many track & field events do limit the number of entrants a team may submit for any given event. I would encourage you to consider implementing such a limit. Otherwise, the competition may come down to whose team is the largest. A team of 30, for instance, could theoretically have 6 entrants in each and every event which would likely skew the odds too strongly in their favor.

Agreed. In theory if I could put together a large enough team I could have more entrants than the entire rest of the field combined. Otherwise I love the idea.

Please hold a spot as I am currently putting a team together.

I can definitely see that potential, you're right. I suppose if a team were to attempt to enter what I would consider an outrageous number of entrants, I would cap them. My logic in not doing so initially is that by having that large of a number of entrants, while they may be giving themselves the greatest chance of winning, they're also giving themselves individually the smallest chance at a premium prize. So I would like to think that at a certain point, they would split into two groups instead of one, simply out of self-interest. So I will reserve the right to put a cap if necessary, but I am hoping it will not be (I'll add this to the rules...you're the second person to mention this to me). Thanks for that.

question: Are the decathlon participants doing each event with only each other, or together with the rest of the people for that event? I know they are usually separate in a track meet, but I wasn't sure if you wanted to run it that way.

Correct, only the decathlon participants will compete against each other in that part of the meet. Think of the decathlon as it's own "meet within the meet", if you will. Which is why they don't participate in any other events...they've got enough on their plate. <grin>

So, for instance, there will actually be two 100m Runs. One within the decathlon participants and one for the rest of the meet participants entered.

Tournament Administration Note

Note to all current and prospective teams:

I have been informed that I must put a maximum limitation on the number of members of any team that is interested in participating in this track meet to nine members. As well, in order for a team member to earn a medal from their team winning this tournament, they must have contributed to the win.

Love what you're doing here with this tournament, as you already know from my PMs.

Am currently working on a team entry myself and hope to post full details later.

Hi BGtheBrain. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I don't typically allow ?'s into my tournaments. This is due to somewhat frequent multi-player involvement but primarily because ?'s tend to not be very committed to showing up.

So get some games under your belt, and we'll get you into my next one.

Actually, now that I think about it, it's entirely possible that by the time this tournament starts (I'll probably give it the full 30 day spinup), you may have "proven yourself" in regard to the consistency, so I may have poo-poo'd your participation too soon.
