He doesn't move quickly enough anymore in the pocket, and the vikes line isn't exactly what it used to be either. Combine that with the fact that some key pro bowl players are out of the offense for awhile and Favre just won't be the same. The vikes had a great year last year no doubt, but the magic is gone and what the vikes should probably have done was invest in a 23 year old QB that will develop rather than a 40 year old one that may be carried off the field in a stretcher this year.
I'd say we're seeing the same Favre we've seen his entire career. Look at his QB ratings since he went to Green Bay:
1992-93: 85.3
1993-94: 72.2
1994-95: 62.4
1995-96: 99.5
1996-97: 95.8
1997-98: 92.6
1998-99: 87.8
1999-00: 74.7
2000-01: 78.0
2001-02: 94.1
2002-03: 85.6
2003-04: 90.4
2004-05: 92.4
2005-06: 70.9
2006-07: 72.7
2007-08: 95.7
2008-09: 81.0
2009-10: 107.2
2010-11 (so far) : 56.1
Favre has hot streaks and cold streaks. That's just the player he is. He managed to put up three 90+ seasons in a row while he was in his prime, but expecting him to come anywhere near his career best performance from last year is unfair. I'm sure that he'll end up with a
much higher rating than 56.1, but putting all of your hopes on him having a solid year is nothing more than a crap shot.
Oh, in before "you're just saying that because you're a Bears fan".
