Im guessing both were Jerry Rice in the same season, say 1993, since your a SF "losing 17-0" 49ers fan, and ill say 1750 yards and 18 TD.

Spurgistan is close in his year for most receiving yards, and two people are very close to the +/- 50 range in record for most receiving yards.

Gold Knight and spurgistan are both right in that Jerry Rice set both records.

Yeah, i really dont have a clue about the yardage or year, but i agree with Neph that we need some more "actual sport" fans in here, not those who think a poker question would be good.

Fine :(

Forget the yardage record, it was 1848 yards in 1995 by Jerry Rice.

I know you guys can get the touchdown record :)

OK, 20 or 22.

Easy question, feel free to post your own (sorry, might be limited next few)

Who was the last baseball player to win the Triple Crown?

Slightly more difficult bonus: Who was the last racehorse to win the Triple Crown
:D

The funny thing is, I know the horse one (Affirmed in 1977 or so), but the baseball one.... Ted Williams?

and mm10, the problem with your last question is that it was too hyper-specific, requiring people to guess a number that's in the thousands. It's like asking what Magic Johnson's career point total was.... you need to give people some leeway, otherwise the thread stagnates.

But you do seem bound and determined to make everyone in this thread hate you. Why is that, pray tell?

wasn't the Yaz the last winner? and isn't spurg a red sox fan? would make sense......

no mm10, i don't care about your question, i just think you're probably the most obnoxious kid on these forums and your contributions to this thread are overwhelmingly negative.....

'Twas Yastrzemski. And Affirmed, for the tangential follow-up. Nephilim gets it. George Brett came kinda close.

ok sweet been wanting to use this one all week:

who was the first (and possibly only?) men's college basketball player to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 1,000 assists? i'm pretty sure he is the only player to do this but not positive, maybe someone can help me w/ that later.

he is a bit obscure in the big picture but was an awesome player

Oscar Robertson? Feel like I guess him for everything. Pride of Cincinnati. Yes, they get one, too.

good guess spurgy, the big O did average a triple-double in an NBA season, but didn't have the assist numbers in college. and ralph sampson had plenty o' points and boards but not many assists......

rite conference, incan, think pt guards.....

while looking up these answers, i found some interesting facts about Oscar Robertson:

grew up poor in Indy. couldn't afford a basketball so learned to shoot by tossing tennis balls or rags bound w/ rubberbands into a peach basket....

in college at Cincinnati, he average 33.8 pts/game in his 3 years, third highest average ever....led the nation in scoring all three years, named all-american and national player of the year all three years! left college as the highest scorer ever (later passed by maravich)

sad note: he was UCinn's fifth black basketball player ever, and was subjected to a lot of racist hatred.....

but damn he was good!
