Any president that could make up new words each and every day has to be a smart man, therefore, George W Bush is the smartest president ever, hands down.

Pardon me?

Oh, greatest president....scuse me

I sure do miss all those witty Bushisms as do so many comedians. Of course that's all I miss about him.

And we managed to get rid of him with only 2 wars. I sure thought he was gonna hit Iran on his way out.

Yeah, that's bad news. That's why so many Republicans became disillusioned.

I was a Republican, switched parties in about 2003 I think (to Libertarian). I can't deal with the Republican social platform, and they ain't economically conservative anymore... that's why I switched.

In any event, I want to see that graph again in four years, slightly modified, to account for the current administration. Then, I would like to see you, Sultan, discuss President Obama's contribution to the national debt.

One problem about a lot of judgements about presidents and their economic impacts, etc. is that the results of a president often don't become apparent until after that president leaves, if not even later.

For example, much of the current loan debacle is because of deregulation previously, as well as failures to implement protections (regulating those securities, for example). In some cases, the previous president could have fixed things, but not always.

If nothing else, the end of 8 years is definitely more indicative of that president than those who only had 4 year terms.

It is a fact that every President since FDR not counting FDR himself has added to the national debt.

I'd say Lincoln was pretty good. Its interesting that most people now seem to think he is the best. I heard he was bashed a lot and disliked in his own time.

Lincoln did some pretty controversial things, like freeing the slaves, so whenever there are controversial decisions/policy, then there will be dissension and hatred.

Ooops. My bad. I guess he only reduced it in his first term:

1953 275,168,120,129.39
1957 274,897,784,290.72

Hmm. Don't like the middle one.
Then again they don't let me vote here anyway, so I could live with that.
