Conquer Club

i was thinking we shoild have a star wars map with the planets and the bonus would be diff planets close to each other i will need help createing it because i have not created a map before i will also need help thing of the gameplay

only problem would be the copyright issues, maybe you could go for a different type, such as a fictionous galaxy

it's been attempted, but copyright has always been an issue

ok i can try to make a space map wht website do you use to make the map

you need an image manipulation program, such as Photoshop or Gimp (gimp is free)

there is a game I used to play, ogame.org. For the longest time the had a "deathstar" and used the image of the deathstar from SW... They did change it eventually but left the option for the old skin with the pic... Idk if they got in trouble or if they got permissions but they kept the name...

I set the size to 630x600 pixels, so I guess that's why it's not large enough, but what I DON'T get is why it won't go bigger...hmm...

I'd rather you not post a larger image. I can already tell that it won't make for a fun map.

is it really a spin-off? A spin-off means that you take a small or supporting character and have them star in their own series. This happened in Television with the show 'Family Matters'. The show 'Perfect Strangers' had a woman elevator operator (or some type of worker) who became the mom in 'Family Matters'. A more famous and successful spin-off would be the show 'Frasier'. The title character was part of the 'Cheers' cast.

Anyway, when you put the name 'Star Wars' in your title and call your map 'Galaxy Conquest', it doesn't give me the impression it's a spin-off. I think it's probably just a rip-off.

Furthermore, anything star wars related isn't going to work because of copyright so if it's really a spin-off, then it won't work anyway (this also leads me to believe it's just a rip-off because this was your way around the copyright issue).

It's just the first draft, I don't really think this is what the final thing will look like.

And anyway, fine, you made your point. Geez, you don't have to be a jerk about the word spinoff...

it still looks like it was done in paint, therefore it looks like a bad map... and i don't want another friggin space map...

It WAS done in Paint (just for the first draft; I'm going to use GIMP later). And if you don't want another space map, fine. Just don't play on it. Is it going to kill you to see another map to choose from?

what if someone created new planets, new galaxy and everything and named it Galaxy Wars? Would copyright allow that and would it not be a rip-off?

Galaxy Conquest, yes, it is probably a rip-off, and I'm pretty sure copyright allows it. (Space Balls, anyone?)
