yeti_c wrote:BTW - I'd change a couple...
Cambridgeshire can be on it's own...
Norfolk and Suffolk -> become East Anglia
Put Middlesex and Essex into "Greater London"
if we stay with the concept of having borders in their proper places, then cambridgeshire can't be on its own because east anglia must not have a border with london. however, u've given an idea to me. cambridgeshire, suffolk and essex can make up one territory, called essex. london can stay on its own (or be combined with middlesex but still be called london) if the river thames is redrawn so that it is impassable (like the proposed river shannon), to separate kent from essex.
yeti_c wrote:Defs call it "West Midlands" & "East Midlands"
Lancashire & Chesire -> Just call this Lancashire (Which is close enough)
agreed.

i'm not sure that i have paint on my pc, but i'll list the changes to my previous list in the same format as before.
new name (currently "old name"): counties contained within new territory
norfolk (currently "east anglia"): norfolk
essex (currently "essex and cambridgeshire"): essex, cambridgeshire and suffolk
london (currently "london"): london and middlesex
home counties north (currently "oxfordshire"): oxfordshire, berkshire, buckinghamshire, hertfordshire and bedfordshire
west midlands (currently "cheshire"): shropshire, staffordshire, warwickshire, herefordshire and worcestershire
lancashire (currently "lancashire"): lancashire and cheshire
hope it doesn't mess things up too much!

I've just had a quick play with the map that yeti_c posted on p8, and added in some boundaries and names...
I've used the suggestion for the Thames to be the impassable between Kent/Essex; my thought for the Other Impassable is to use Salisbury Plain (lots of Army bases/camps) and/or The New Forest.
I'm still not sure whether SOUTH COAST should be split back into Hampshire/Sussex; somebody else has mentioned the EAST ANGLIA and Cambridgeshire split.

I've updated the link in my above post, so people can easily see my suggested boundaries/names...
I can't remember if there has been any discussion about bonus region names; obviously there's Scotland, Ireland and Wales... for England, the Cornwall/Devon etc. should really be "The West Country"; and how about "Up North" or "T'North" for the Yorkshire area? Not really too sure on ideas for the rest of England??

MrBenn wrote:for England, the Cornwall/Devon etc. should really be "The West Country"
what is currently called "land's end" corresponds almost exactly with the anglo-saxon kingdom of wessex (which also included hampshire and berkshire), so i think "wessex" is just as good and, in addition, it cannot be confused with the western part of any other country. the area served by the wessex water company is also similar to "land's end" (excluding devon and cornwall).

if northern england is "up north", then southern england must surely be "down south"!

-Move the army circle on Hebrides so it's in the center of the island, not on the northern end.

I'm not sure if this got noticed or not, so I'm reposting it.

I'm sure someone must of suggested this before - and I can't believe I've only just thought of it.
The map includes Hadrain's Wall - so why not set the map in Roman times - after 120 AD (when the wall was started) to 410AD.
Further info as ever on Wikipedia (including some maps):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Britain.
The territory names will be a lot less contentious if they are all Roman.

for gameplay to stay the same, east anglia must border only lincolnshire and essex. in other words, it must not border london, oxon or midland. this can be done if we expand essex to include cambridgeshire, hertfordshire and bedfordshire. this choice of border is not arbitrary, but follows the boundary of the “east of england” government office region. we can change “greater london” to “london”, as this causes no confusion and some people are strongly in favour of simpler names.

It should be 'Midland
s' or 'The Midlands'
You could use 'Lincs' instead of Lincolnshire
I had a thought about the East Anglia problem, but can't remember what it was... I'll have another think!
In the meantime, what about this as an alternative title?

Great Britain & Ireland

EDIT: Just realised you've redrawn the Esasex border; here are the suggestions I had anyway :EDIT
I've thought some more about the East Anglia thing, and have some options:
1 - Make Essex bigger, to incorporate Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. Then rename East Anglia 'Norfolk'
2 - Leave the map how it is, but stick in the M1 and make it impassable; although people might wonder what happened to all the other motorways!
3 - Extend Oxon to incorporate Cambridge, and rename it 'Oxbridge'. This would then give East Anglia 3 borders instead of 2...
That's about all I've got at the moment...
Oh, and seriously think about using the New Forest as the impassable instead of those mountains... I mean, there really aren't any mountains there!

East anglia only has two boarders on the current map. Ill take your inpassables into consideration thou.
