Skittles stated that "team rocket and whoever leads them" are the obvious baddies. That's an assumption about factions.Skoffin wrote: I'm not sure I understand your point about Skittles; which part of his comment was an assumption about factions? Could you clarify?
As for Serb, apparently he was just a rage filled character back in the day. Now if only Tonka truck were here, now that was some rage XD

Did you want me to add content less than 5 minutes after I had already made a post? Go check the timestamps, I voted Hotshot literally moments before.
Do you know what is also outright scummy? Making a post to look like you have been reading the thread. It stands out when you have mucked up and not actually read anything.

@Rage. Good, so learn from it.
@Serb. Is this a challenge. There is only room for one uber aggressive player here, and that would be me these days.
@Doom. Yup I read Newguys post the same way.

But HotShot posted twice just before you. And neither post seemed like typical scumarining. I'm all for pressuring scumariners but you can't just pick a name out of a hat and call them that. What do you mean by this? I would think what others think is very important. How are we going to find who is scum if we don't try to think of why the person did that. The way a scum thinks is different than a town player, and in those differences that's how we're able to root them out. Imposing your own view of what is right and wrong is a sure way to lynch a nub just for being a nub.DoomYoshi wrote:You and dakky are missing the point. It doesn't matter what "they" think. He didn't make any effort to bring it back up to confirm his theory that dakky was dodging the question, not just forgetting to mention it. The two situations seemed conflicting in an odd way. I'm still getting used to dakky, but I came up on this forum in a time when pushing past the joke votes of day 1 to start into serious talk immediately was normally frowned upon, so his pushing past joke voting is something that I take into account, though I'm not sure what to make of it due to not playing enough games with him. It just rubs me wrong, not enough for a vote or fos, because nobody has challenged it as being outside of his meta, but enough to mention for my reference.
Vote Tim due to the above reasoning, and because I'm unsure as to if the joke vote phase has ended or not. It's kind of in that twilight period where half the players are talking seriously and the other half are still clinging to joke voting.

Where was Pokemon roles mentioned? I assumed it would all be trainers. Then again my memory of the Indigo series is very fuzzy. I know there've been loads of trainers introduced over the years but perhaps there weren't that many way back then.

Who are you refering to? Masket? When I said joke I was refering to Wing not Masket. As for Masket I think he screwed up. I can see how one can think he was trying to get more role information though. While that would be somewhat suspicious I still feel like it was a screw up more than anything.Anarkistsdream wrote:Fir, brother, pal... The joke has nothing to do with it. To do this on Day 1 is what makes me think it is weird. Especially as many games as we have all played together...

Well, if we're speculating... My usual guess is 25% mafia, though really it can go up to 1/3 (or more if the mod really wants to mess with us). So in a game this size, I would guess 6-7 mafia.Anarkistsdream wrote: But what else do we have to go on Day 1 besides screw ups?
26 people... So, how many scum? 5?
I know nothing about Pokemon... How many people were in this Rocket League?
Are there other "leagues"? How many? Are they all good guys?
I have played too many games with more than one townie group, and Mandy is purposefully throwing a wrench into a typical c9 game, sooooo....
Is it possible that either the trainers aren't town, or the trainers, if town, are competing against each other as well as trying to stop Team Rocket? There's some D1 speculation for you.mandalorian2298 wrote:

The last one of them to survive will be crowned the Champion.
It's not Rocket League but ... Team Rocket... and we're playing Indigo League. So that's a TEAM inside a LEAGUE.Anarkistsdream wrote: 26 people... So, how many scum? 5?

So it's correct to assume the Team Rocket consists of 3 players.Ash catches and makes friends with many Pokémon while dealing with opposition from the Team Rocket trio of Jessie, James, and Meowth, and his childhood rival, Gary Oak, Professor Oak's grandson, who is also a Pokémon trainer and always keeps ahead of him
It's due to Hotshot'so recent history. He's become one of the least reliable posters on the site. He's a good player when he's active but it's rare to get him active any more.Fircoal wrote:But HotShot posted twice just before you. And neither post seemed like typical scumarining. The masket case is interesting. The soft claim is oddly timed but usually scum have more information than town at the beginning of the game so a slip like this from scum is even more odd. Possible lone scum?

DoomYoshi wrote:@ Fircoal: dakky is voting you because "they" told him that voting non-players is a scumtell. New guy's scumtell is when people get serious too early. Why is it a scumtell for him? Because "they" frowned upon it once upon a time. Both players are referencing outdated metas that have no bearing on this game. It's nice to follow some mantras like LAL and follow the cop but every now and then players need to think for themselves.
I really hope this wing/nark fight drags on. My favorite moment in mafia ever was when I got into a several weeklong pissing match with nark, so I am getting the warm fuzzies. Until someone threatens to jump through the screen and punch the other guy in the dickhole, it won't quite cut it.

Of course you can. However, all roles will face quick and ignoble death (not Mod-Kill, but “natural” causes) if they claim. So claim away, I double-dare you.

2. Due to the game mechanics and the WCs, Role-claiming is going to be suicidal for almost all the players in almost every situation. Anyone role-claiming is either lying or trying to lose. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!![]()

Based on these, plus the whole whatever trainer survives wins, I'd agree with the idea that, at the very least, the town is not unified. The contextual evidence that we've been given suggests that the town is filled with 'survivor' like town roles, possibly in control of other 'pokemon' to form multiple town-ish groups. Of course, it wouldn't be Mafia without a Mafia-like group, so I would concur with the idea that Team Rocket is likely within this game, probably as a larger threat than each of the other individual trainers. Mandy mentioned Pokemon battles, so it's quite possible that each Pokemon has it's strengths/weaknesses(based on their type like water/fire/etc). That means that if a Pokemon claims, they will likely be targeted by other pokemon they are weak to. And if a Trainer claims, then the other trainers will go after them. Sooo yeah suicidal claiming indeed. So as far as the 'town' goes, we can really only agree to try and take out Team Rocket first, since they are likely the greatest threat. After that? Probably a chaotic mess of everyone trying to get rid of all the opposing trainers/pokemon. But I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there....Minister Masket wrote:[Bugcatcher Kwanton wants to battle!]

I'm no Guru but I'm fairly certain that Team Rocket people were also trainers. Which leads me to think that they are a group of trainers working together, unlike all the other trainers (hence a bigger threat). Since MM was so open about his 'Trainer' slip, I'd be more inclined to believe that he's a town-sided trainer.Talapus wrote:Ok, possibly a dumb question as pokemon is not a subject I know much about. But saw the MM comment and certainly found it more a slip than anything else. But am curious as to whether or not the team rocket members were ever considered trainers?
3 main ones of them(Counting Meowth I guess, though assume not a a trainer) and 3 main storyline trainers means there is a 50/50 chance between good and evil on MM when he screwed up with that comment. But really easiest way to know is if team rocket peeps were ever considered trainers? Any gurus in here care to shed light on that?
If not, than I'd be far more inclined to believe MM slipped up and unfortunately put a rather large target on himself for the first night as a town related role.
