kclborat wrote:Though, to be fair, both sides do press their view points on the other. I believe that you could describe jay as a fanatic. However, I have a view (one might call it fanatical) that everyone should use their own minds. I believe that . The best thing we have as a human is our mind. Some believe God gave that to us, some don't. But that is not the crux of the problem. The problem is that organized religion is detracting from the general intelligence of the people by advising them to forget, misuse and ignore evidence that may or may not contradict their views.
ok, lets see....
1.
everyone should use thier own minds...... this is looking at life in a what can be evidenced or plainly seen view. It is the heart at which God looks at.
2.
religion has people switch off their minds ignore evidence available to the public............ This can be true in certain religions. Seeing there are many religions, all of which believe different things about God.... If there is a God they ALL can't be right. So, the question is... Which one is the truth?
3.
The problem is that organized religion by advising them to forget, misuse and ignore evidence .......... I disagree and the same could be said of humanism. That the world " is detracting from the general intelligence of the people by advising them to forget, misuse and ignore evidence "

You can have your own O
pinion, but you only get 1
P.
It just would'nt be fair for you to have 2 when everyone else only gets 1.

I don't know about you Jay, but I guess you could say God is sort of like your big boss.
I work at McDonald's.. good part time teenage job.. and the person who makes all of the rules there.. sort of like the god of McDonald's is the store or regional manager.. or we could even go as far as the ast. store manager... and as cool as they are.. I would hate to hang out with them, because it'd be no fun because they are too rule conscious.. its always fun to rebel a little.

So many years after my ex-gf's abortion, I worked as a ranch hand. One day, one of the other hands was on a drunken binge, so I had to do his work as well as mine. Part of that was collecting the eggs from the chickens.
Mamma boss let me keep a dozen. I cracked one open, and not only was it fertilized, there was an embryo in it. Same for the next two. I put the rest back in the henhouse. But I threw up again, realizing that I had just killed 3 chickens and it reminded me of my ex-gf's abortion.
Without any bias, either way, I suggest that any woman that is considering an abortion crack a few developing chicken eggs. I am positive that it will have an impact on you.
To this day, I still cannot eat eggs :-\ That is how traumatic it was to me as the father.
I am not religious, and I am an Independent voter, leaning towards Democrats currently. My views have nothing to do with religion, but what I strongly feel as the taking of an innocent life.
This is my last post in this thread. Women - decide and decide wisely. I have two beautiful children from my ex-wife (not the same person as my ex-gf) and I can say that watching the miracle of my children being born were the utmost happiest days of my life.
Anyway, just sharing personal experience. I will feel guilty until the day I die for paying for the abortion, but I had to choose to save the mother or save the child. Since I could not save the child, I had to choose to save the mother, because she was poor and would have gone to a back alley somewhere in the city with a coat hanger and would probably not have survived. So ye women here, please think of the father and the choices and repercussions of them. That is all I can ask.

Jay, you failed to answer number 2 at all. say christianity and use the fact that i am referring to evidence that supports evolution and the age of the earth, to pick two.

What evidence???? We have already gone over this 1,000 times! Evidence of evolution??? Show me! Show me ONE fossil of an animal becoming a different animal. Like a mouse with a wing bone (on its evolutionary way of becoming a bird)! It doesn't exist.
As far at the age of the earth, I personally believe carbon dating is inacurate. And there is NO WAY to prove it otherwise. So, we must just take the word of science that it is accurate. NOT!

Do you wilfully misunderstand stuff, or are you actually this stupid?
Do you really think that evolution, which is taught at every serious university on the planet, is reduced to lies just by you screaming "show me a half-mouse-half-bird!"
Honestly? That you, who admitted to ignoring your biology teacher, can prove entire faculties at Harvard, Oxford and the Sorbonne wrong, just because you have never seen a half-mouse-half-bird?
Honestly?

If you or they can provide evidence that evolution has/is occuring....I'm all ears. Adaptation occurs (so don't use that to defend evolution) but the animal remains that species of animal. Evolution... animals who become totally different animals over a very long period of time is a whole different thing. And as I recall one of the "rules" science has is that
it must be observable which evolution is not. Therefore,
cannot be a "fact".

The wilful misunderstanding is irrefutable -
here is one example (1 week after he agreed to stop misusing the word theory).
He appears capable of typing and breathing simultaneously so isn't as stupid as he appears.

Jay - and i am not being mean here - you just don't understand what you are talking about. Really. You should stop arguing until you have read a bit more on the subject (from an opposing point of view, i mean.) Actually read what the evidence for evolution is and then argue it. The 1st-grade answers you come up with add nothing to this debate.

Well of course. It's like standing up while Einstein is speaking and screaming "I cant SEEEEEEE Relativity!!! SHOW ME or your LYING!!!!"
You can't argue with fools.
