But seriously, take it into consideration. Their parents have probably already died, and they're about to die themself, probably wanting to die because of the conditions in Africa (civil war, disease, not much fresh water...).

ok I will now explain my cliche, when they had cannon balls on ships they used to keep them in holders shaped like them, called brass monkeys, but when it got cold, the brass monkeys would constrict and the cannon balls would pop out of place.
