Can't wash them and people who wash and/or cut up their belts to make them look older are generally frowned upon.
As for shaolin, the word shorin is came from Shaolin, my karate class is primarily based on Shudokan (passed down from the Late Grand Master Kanken Toyama) and Shobayashi Shorin Ryu (passed down from Grand Master Eizo Shimabukuro). Though we also have some aspects from a few other systems of karate.
As for the pirate vs. ninja. A ninja is trained in stealth meaning he could come up and slit a pirate's neck before the pirate ever knew he was there.

Ive always found the concept of belts quite alien because chinese martial arts dont have them. I did Taikwondo when i was 9 and thats the only experince i have had with belts.
H2SU, Kyle is only being silly. Hopefully he gets that you dont like guys flirting with you now.
Pirates or Ninja's? hmmm
I like them both, maybe i will be a ninja pirate
