Because you guys are trying to find a legitimate reason for this.

Well isn't that convenient?! You just have an answer for everything don't you...

Is this based on some communication or are you just making up an argument for him?

I have no opinion what so ever of dm. I do not know him personally. I do not like or dislike him. Im just saying that basically, if they really WANTED him gone, he would already be gone as e has been banned many a time, before this. I mean he is one of the only people I know of that has had this many chances! All others that have had allot less bans are gone.

Well I've known it for a while. About a year now..

Just because it wasn't in flame wars doesn't mean it wasn't a personal attack. I thought the tone of the thread it was posted in was rather condescending. On top of that, a number of people have been punished for this exact thing before.

I like you clap... I think you are fair and have a sexy mouth. DM made a boo-boo and were it not for his alleged track record, he might not have been banned for what he did. Given the situation that he seems to have been on the "edge of perma ban" for as long as I have been here, if not longer, I would say that he got off lucky and people aught to shut up about his ban.

I'm really more of an friendly acquaintance. I don't talk with him much and when I do it's publicly and in Off-Topics.

But I believe what he's saying because I have no reason to believe he's lying.

If I am to believe what he's saying, then it follows that I think the banning was unfair.

He may have been lying, but I don't know and nor do you. You were presenting the case that he was laughing at me behind my back for defending him, which was making an assumption, so I more-or-less did the same from my perspective.

That's really all I can say about that.

Do people honestly have a problem with us saying we don't think he should have been banned? Because it certainly seems like it. Excepting a few cases, most of what I've seen hasn't been justification for the ban but more of a "STFU and deal with it."

Just to clarify for everybody: DM received 1 month because of his PREVIOUS HISTORY, not because of posting the phone number. Without that history, it would have been something far less (like a warning or 24 hour). By the way, lack decided this, not myself, clapper, or KA.

That was Prowler, not me. Check the text...

You don't know the whole story and niether do I. I do know that it has been a long established rule that you cannot post personal information about someone else. I think there was a similar case about Lack or Twill in GD some time ago. Anyhow, unless there are facts as opposed to conjecture their is really no substance to any of the arguments defending DM.

He broke a long established rule. How about that for justification?

If you want to spam up the forums complaining don't be surprised that not everyone agrees wit you.

Aren't there others that were banned for less than this? why does DM get a month while others get completely banned?

not at all, F1fth, I just don't get why some decide they want to push the limits with other bogus threads just to see if they will get banned as well. If they don't want to be here then they should just leave instead of causing more trouble. Or to prove a "point" that is in their own idea, "appropriate", and not realizing it is just plain old trolling.

i think its just inconsistent... there are "consequences" but they don't really amount to much when there isn't enforcement of the rules... oh, unless the rule breaker has favored status amongst the people... then he can get away with anything,

Well said...I'm sick and tired of these same people obsessively trying to challenge every minute detail about the forum guidelines. Then they try to act as if they're such noble martyrs once a consequence is handed out.

what if someone tells you to post there picture? Apparently that warrants a 1 month ban.

Only if you actually did post the picture.

Why would anyone be so stupid as to post someone else's picture.

It is common sense.

If someone says "Can you post this for me?", you say "No".

If they want it (whatever it is) posted, they should do it themselves. If they can't, then there is a reason for that and you shouldn't be undermining the authority that placed this restriction on them.

I am thankful the mods are doing their jobs.

See, but the same concept if you want to post a picture with somebody else in it, something that's frequently done here.
