It's great that Ole Miss gave them that kind of fight because it exposed a lot of weaknesses that Florida has but really it hurts the SEC that Florida lost.

That's a rational assessment of the situation. Normally I want the SEC to stay strong but when the team wears orange it's hard to stay rational. Plus it's early in the season. We'll see how things play out. I was just giving a Florida fan I work with a hard time yesterday.
I can't wait to see what he says about this loss. It's worth it just for that

It's funny I was tempted to include Ole Miss over Florida as one of my upsets.

Ole Miss gives Urban Myer his second loss in the Swamp,
meanwhile TEXAS is up 31-3 over Arkansas at the half.
Gee... you think they're missing Houston Nutt in Little Rock yet?

Tennessee has the worst offense in the SEC.

Another upset, Maryland over #20 Clemson

It looks like Navy vs Wake Forest will be another upset. Wake's down 2 touchdowns with less than 4 minutes left. Maybe Michigan v. Wisconsin too.

#16 Wake Forest loses to Navy 24-17 after a failed on-side kick and #9 Wisconsin loses to Michigan 27-25 after failed 2-point conversion.

Oklahoma, six plays, seventy four yards, seven points.
TCU, four plays, minus four yards . . . three points.
Oklahoma, thirteen plays, eighty yards, seven points.
Oklahoma, two plays, seventy four yards, seven points.
and it's still the first quarter
Looks like TCU missed the Upset Weekend memo.

Ruh Roh! the Dawgs are in big trouble. 31-0 at the half.

First I will say this. Today, Alabama was the best team in the SEC hands down. Second, as badly as Georgia played in the first half, I was impressed at how they played in the second half to at least make it a semi-close game. Third, I want to know where the holding calls were in this game. It seemed to me that both sides got away with some fairly blatant holds. Finally, even though Georgia lost, I am not really all that upset. From what I saw, Alabama is probably the best team in the SEC and deserved to win.

I was surprised that Alabama scored on their first 5 possessions, as it was their defense that I thought would be tough on Georgia. But I have a lot of appreciation for what the Bulldogs did in the second half of this game, they definitely showed a lot of class not throwing in the towel and putting up a fight right to the end. I think they still made an impressive showing while making a statement that they will be a tough match for the rest of their schedule.

The Crimson Tide definitely showed up for this one. It's gonna be interesting to see what the polls look like on Monday after all the big surprises this weekend.

Really looking at the teams, I would say that Alabama and Oklahoma should be the top 2 in the nation. After that it's just juggling Missouri, Texas, and LSU until we get the right comparison. It would be hard-pressed to move Missouri over LSU during a bye week but I think I would have to do it and I think Texas should leap frog over both of them.

As for the game itself, I wish Georgia had shown up to play from the beginning. If they had this would have been one heck of a football game likely going down to the wire and possibly over time.

Finally, I will say it again. In my opinion I would say that Alabama is the playing like the best team in the SEC right now and quite possibly the nation. It will be interesting to see if they keep it up seeing how they jumped to a great start last season and only finish 7-6.

The Big 12 and SEC are both very strong and one thing's for certain, the rankings will sort themselves out as the best of both of those Conferences will be facing off against each other soon enough. Oklahoma plays Texas in two weeks (then Kansas, Texas Tech and possibly Missouri later) while Alabama faces LSU and Auburn in November (with a possible rematch of Georgia later)... so there's some great matchups coming.

Of the three BCS busters left Boise State isn't likely to be challenged again until their final game of the season, while Utah and Brigham Young meet in their final game... and both play a good TCU team...
that Oklahoma dismantled easily yesterday.

USC is now in 7th place in the Pac 10, of course that will change... but it's kind of funny at the moment.

In my opinion, at this point Alabama is unquestionably the top team in the SEC West right now ( I still hold onto the opinion that UGA has the potential to be the best in the SEC period if they can get their acts together and actually play to their potential). My problem is whether Alabama can keep it up. Last year, they got off to a great start similar to this one but finished 7-6. I donot think that is likely to happen this year but you never know.

However if Georgia and Alabama were to meet up again in the SEC championship. I think Georgia would actually have the slight advantage because they will have more of a reason to beat them.

Well, #13 Auburn and #19 Vandy play today. Any other good matchups this week?

Florida and Arkansas seem to think they are in a competition to see who can get the most penalties.

Lookout Georgia... VANDY knocks off Auburn to stay unblemished in the SEC,
while Kentucky gave Alabama a generous gift today.

I saw both games and couldn't be happier about the Vandy game. I also have to say that Auburn was playing rather dirty a lot of facemasks (some that weren't called). That Kentucky-Alabama game was a good game. Just goes to show that you can't overlook anybody or get cocky. Alabama's lucky to have stayed undefeated.

I will end this by saying that Auburn is overrated. they have a good defense but are confused as hell on offense.

The strength of the NFC East is no surprise... but the Miami Dolphins have been definitely surprising
and Cincinnati may shock a few teams yet. After taking NY to OT and giving Dallas a tough game,
I think they are a lot better than their 0-4 record.

Hard to believe the Houston Texans let Indy steal that win yesterday. Ouch! That's gotta hurt.

That was a crazy game. I didn't get to see it first hand but I saw the highlights.
