Also, this is my first game and I wanted to watch a bit to see how it is done.

To me, the most suspicious thing this far is the Shield business. I get the feeling he's either scum or a goof/troll and that more than a few of you are thinking the same.

So why are sheepofdumb and freeze defending/helping him? I don't think anyone would care to help a goof/troll (especially if he's been known to do it other games as well) – makes me think it could be scum protecting scum.

In addition to this, freezie's attempt(?) to start a wagon on Streaker gets him my vote for now.

unvote, vote freezie

To you, maybe, but If no one is here to shows the ropes and help the new players, mafia will slowly disapear once players start to leave if there is no one to replace them.

I am here to help newbies, even though I am not a great player myself. But I am not defending his role in any reason.

As far as your vote since I am ''trying to start a bandwaggon'' suit yourself, nothign to say to that. But then, why don't you FoS everyone who has the first vote on another player?

I posted my oppinion, voted someone...However I respect your oppinion.

After this and other replys to my post, I have say that I was probably wrong in my accusations. Probably. Still learning the game! ;)

I'll unvote for the time being and wait to see what shaggydan has to say to Illiad's post.

I don't see your case on targetman streaker, he sounds innocent to me. Explain a little more please.

Sure.
He says he has been following the thread every single day, and managed to post absolutely zero substance or personal opinion.

When a few votes mount on CK, he is eager enough to hop on the wagon without contributing anything to it. The only times I've seen people get away with that is when you follow a cop's investigation or something.

It's not much, but it's something.

True, but I've played with him before and I might have modded a game that he played in. That's how he normally plays. While I'm all for giving noobs some slack, at some point, you have to evolve/improve as a player. And if you're not going to put the time into trying to improve, it's wasted effort in trying to give him allowances. It seems CK is inactive again, so I will unvote and await mod action, but I'm not willing to keep extending the leash with the newer players indefinitely.

Unvote because my vote was from the joking stage.

Still not sure on who I'm voting as I don't see a strong case on anyone yet.

Yes, I been following and the problem i have is after reading each post i come to a new conclusion as who to vote for at. first i thought shield would be a good choice then I realized he is new. and as people have pointed that out and i agree with that. I also think that the person most scummy would be the first to get us off joke voting. But only playing one game before. I really don't know if that is scummy or not. Thats just my gut instinct.
So yes I did keep quite cause i am really just trying to get the hang of things. sorry if that seems scummy i will try to post more even if my thoughts are way off ok

I also find it scummy when members go after new players. Who are still getting used to the game this is the largest game i have ever played i should note. I feel this way cause new players are easy targets that do not draw much attention to themselves but that's just what i think

Well you've been in mafia games before. It's not like you don't know how they are run. Games are dictated by activity, and a good amount of activity is always appreciated, even if you can't make big elaborate cases. It also helps the mod know you're still interested. I mean, you have to log on at least once every 24 hours to take turns, its not too much to ask to at least post something in the game thread right?

After this post I'm going to vote targetman. You say its scummy to target newer players, I say its even scummier to say "it'd be scummy to vote for me", which when put in context is exactly what you are saying

No i do not have a case for you at all. I Feel sometimes it could be counted as scummy. And at this point it seems like i should have kept quiet cause people are going after me.

See this is my problem i have with mafia games. As a newbie i say comments cause you all want me to talk. then you throw me under the bus. that's just how i feel. Sorry if that is perceived as scummy.

this is a completely joking vote after the joke-vote stage is over. It may be a scum tactic in trying to prolong the joke vote stage and keeping town from making a decisive lynch. And plus it's just a distraction. I am going to UNvote Vote nagerous until he explains why he joke voted after the joke vote stage was completely over with.

But do you understand which bit was scummy? Your first post was fine, as long as you back it up by being more active. You were submarining and you acknowledged it, and agreed to move on. Personally I would've happily made an allowance for you as a newer player (or at least one I am unfamiliar with). However you followed it up with a second tell, which is why you get my vote. Actually the submarining was scummier, and if you hadn't posted you would've gotten my vote, so really you're hardly being thrown under the bus

I was not sumbmering i was following what was going on in this thread seeing as how the deadline for a vote was still far away. I had every intention to adding more to the dessication as the days approached as i have been. adding more I felt i did not have a good enough reason to change my vote until recently. I did not add to the the thread for the reason that i agreed with both sides so i was still thinking of who i should vote for.

You were following the thread but not posting. That is submarining.

When you post you don't have to cast your vote. If you feel the you're torn by both arguments and do not think the cae against someone is strong enough to vote for him, then post about it, post your position.

The most telling info we get, is who sides with whom, who pursues a scumtell and who dismisses it, etc.

If you do not participate in this discussion and remain anonymous then it's probable that you're not trying to find scum.

@Nag: That wasn't me.

@Iliad: In the first case I was thinking of making a nearly identical post when I saw Freezie's, more so about how he joined the wagon while keeping his head down. In the second case you are right; that is blatant bandwaggoning to get an inactive person to post. Which I personally don't think is scummy.

As for CK; I believe pressuring an active is far more beneficial than lynching an inactive. If it comes to it we can always lynch him if we run close to a deadline anyways (assuming he isn't replaced or modkilled).

Unvote and vote Nagerous. Part OMGUS for catching me on the sofa. Part for joke voting this late (despite the fact I got a bit of a chuckle out of it). That and I don't have any other firm leads, I'm swamped with work so I haven't had a chance to properly re-read, and probably won't be able to for a week or so. I'll still be around and posting but not building any elaborate cases. Sorry guys :(.

If you want a real answer, shield - there are no REAL leads at that moment and I was listening to that shaggy song and thought it would be funny to post that, it is still day one there is no exact period where joke votes end and don't end .

So far... there are no real cases that have been presented, in fact the most scummiest thing that has happened in the game so far is this post:

UNvote vote streaker let's get a lynch before N1. Maybe we'll even get a role claim

However, I know you to be a noob troll so I haven't found that it is worthy of a vote on you, however if you continue to jump around with your vote, one page streaker, one page campin, one page me then I may well put my vote on you for excessive vote-hopping.

Shield, your activity needs to change soon. Or else my vote will drop. As we get closer to the deadline, I will pick one of the more experienced submariners to dole out my vote. It seems we have a few people using the n00b defense, that's fine I figure we can give them at least until day 2.

Ok, maybe the joke votes don't have a set border with serious votes, but it's seriously been a long time since the last joke vote, and it definitely had transitioned to the serious vote stage. And plus you're completely trying to turn the tables with the last bit of your post. That's a completely omgus FoS you did. And plus "vote-hopping" is how things get moving. If no one vote hopped, the mafia would win by split votes. Just look at the 5player lyncher mafia: if no one had vote-hopped the town would not have gotten anywhere and the mafia would get a free lynch in the night. And what counts as "excessive" vote-hopping? Is it 3? So does that mean I can't change my vote more than 3 times? Explain.

I knw you're not pointing the n00b finger directly at me, but I'm trying my best to not "hide under the n00b defense". And what do you mean by "Or else my vote will drop"?

Here's the problem with votehopping. If we were in the joke vote stage, vote hopping is probably ok. But since you seem to have firmly established that we are out of the joke vote stage through your accusation of nagerous, changing your vote excessively is seen as scummy because it looks like you're trying to push for a lynch while staying under the radar. When changing votes, it's necessary to provide some sort of reason, and I really think this voting of nagerous is sort of ridiculous. Correct me if I'm wrong but he wasn't the one who came dangerously close to hammering. And I still think that some players have acted more scummy than that one little vote. Nag might have skimmed the thread and didn't realize that shaggy was already under pressure, but he wasn't the one who almost hammered him.

With 25 alive, it takes 13 to lynch. Deadline is May 5th. (I may consider extending if this activity level will continue)
