I heard that there was a case where a woman wanted her (dead) husband declared a saint, because whenever someone dropped a slice of toast in front of his picture, it landed butter-side up. There were enough witnesses for the requesite number of miracles (three I think), and the case went all the way to the Pope.
The Pope said "Tell them they're buttering the wrong side of the bread".
