Jay, you are correct that borrowing too much is an evil thing. But printing money devalues it, a lot, a lot a lot. There is only one time in the history of the world (that I know of) that it has ever happened. Germany after WWI.

The value of the dollar today is .04, the only thing that kept the dollar of any value was, in a word, war. The Federal Reserve prints money backed by NOTHING. No gold, no silver, nada. Which is why Ron Paul wanted to get rid of the Federal Reserve and have a currency that is backed by something of worth. Our dollar bills may as well be Monopoly money.

But that's what happens every time Bush asks for 500 Billion for the Iraq war. The Fed says sure....here you go....and who is paying it back? Not Bush....we are. But not dollar for dollar. $1.10 per $1.00? $1.20 per $1.00? We are in and endless cycle of repaying a debt that we can never repay. We, the American people, are slaves and don't even realize it.

We should have had a balanced budget Amendment long ago. The US government should not be able to spend more than it brings in.
