the edit button is a good idea, but like killmanic said it could be abused
the only other way I see to a "redo" button is to have one of those annoying "are you sure you want to..." popups

redo abuse: no more bad dice for anyone
edit abuse: someone said something in chat that proved him/her to be a multi on accident by thinking it was the other account then deletes it. (you would be surprised at how many times this happens)

Sorry I meant redo button for deploying wrong, not attacking!!!
sometime you thing your icon is on the mark but it jumps a bit and end up deploying wrong.
Also when leaving a message it seems when you get so far writing one, you can't go back to change or see what your writing, maybe a bigger box for the messages?

redo button isn't going to happen, the chat however, could be set so the original version is viewable by the Hunters, so that they could find potential Multi Hunting Information

Redo deployment and advancement button

have redo button for troop deployment and advancement

Concise description: to have a redo(for lack of a better word) on troop advancement and deployment. When u deploy or advance troops there will be a "redeploy" or "readvanced" button so u can do exactly do as it says

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
For ppl who misdeploy they can undo their mistake (during the same phase only and only the troops they deployed) also for ppl who misadvance their troops after conquering their terriorty (ex. I advance one I then click the magic button and then I can "readvance@my troops)

This needs to be added within the function that the "redo" has to be done before another action takes place. Otherwise, I can deploy, then have my enemies deploy, then redeploy several times.

I don't think there will ever be a redo button. I do believe this was rejected before.

An undo button, please!

Concise description:
  • How many times have you thought you've deployed your troops on Libya only to find out they ended up on Korea instead? Can we please add an undo button?

Specifics:
  • I realize this may be more of a problem in freestyle games, although you should only be able to undo the troops you've just deployed. Also, probably not a wise idea to add undo options for attacks

IIRC, this has been rejected before.

Too bad it's been rejected. It would be extremely helpful.

This should be a heads up to mapmakers, players don't like having to guess what a territory's name is :p
Some of the maps with foreign languages on them give me similar issues... Someone should make a plug in that highlights whatever territories are selected in the drop down menu.

In the absence of an undo button (sorry...i checked before i posted, but missed that it had been posted before), that would be a great second alternative. It would eliminate the cries of anguish when 88 troops end up on China instead of Congo.

I have to say this will never get passed due to the fact undoing your drop in speed freestyle games would be bad. In addition an undo attacks would be a bad bad idea since lets say i attack and have either a double loss or a split win i could undo the attack and try again and keep doing that till i get a double win.

Clickable Maps highlights territories by clicking on the, and BOB at least colors the territory names to match the player's color.

Also, it would help people who can't be bothered to pay attention.

In a freestyle game, you deployed incorrectly in some Place A, but then you wud like to undo, but you find it out that your units has been attacked and reduced to some certain amount...Then what are you and how are you gonna undo it ? And deploying ur units somewhere then undoing it wud confuse ur opponents as well.. And it might be used as a part of strategy as well..
I dont think it is a good idea, and if you are no fast enough in freestyles, then simply dont do them...
Not everyone needed to be perfect...

Wow, people.

Please note the original post, above (i've quote it just in case you missed it).

viz: "this may be more a of a problem in freestyle games."

Just because it's a problem in freestyle games, why does it ALSO have to be a problem in standard, sequential games in which none of the freestyle issues come up? is there a reason there can't be a suggestion for an undo button in a sequential game?

My point is: when you're playing a regular board game like the ones here, and you decide to fortify Kamchatka, you don't accidentally drop all your armies on Kenya and then are forced to play that way. No player says to you (unless they're particularly cut-throat), "I know it was a mistake, but your armies landed on Kenya, so sucks to be you."

In settings in which the freestyle problem doesn't exist, can anyone tell me why the idea was abandoned?

1. Why should we reward people for being careless by giving them an opportunity to rethink their moves? Before you click "Deploy" you see what is selected as the country, so if you actually wanted to, you could manage to take the extra second and never misdeploy.
2. Too hard to code. You are playing against real people here! Not some computer. Once you have made an action and it is set down in the log, you don't go back to the deployment phase again. It would be impossible to code for freestyle and very hard for sequential.

I don't think this is good. Just like in any board game, there are no undo's...
