DiM,
Whilst I agree with the fact that this should be a revamp instead of a second crossword map AND that you have made many valid points - I think everyone knows your opinion here. It's beginning to get a bit too heated and some of the conversation (although about map making/foundry process in general) is not actually specific to the map.
It's probably best (for a while), if you let others share their opinions - and let spin/wl_south come up with a new version before jumping back into the fray.

this is just to you a rough idea how the user friendly could look like
what i think might work better is to drop the slope part and just have the small number box on top or along side whitch ever the case to the nex box

the original is easier to understand. and also cant we use some less glaring colours.

i don't think this is any easier to understand. the little tabs make it more confusing for me..what was hard to understand in the first place?

thank you for input lanceyboyuk
we will take that in to consideration about the colours i not over keen on some colours to, more so the ones where the men number make hard to see how many there is
thank you for input tisha but i think the tabs need to be shape and lower down

i find the tabs more confusing visually as well as theme-wise.
if it's a crossword map then it should look like a crossword and i've never seen crosswords with tabs. the colors already spoil the feeling don't tabs.
as for the colors why don't you look at the berlin map or the middle east or why not at the crossword paper rip i put in this thread. use only one color in different tones.

i thought the ripped paper was a great idea...even the different shades in the middle east map would be better then the colors now

the first one is the worst map on the site, the second looks only to replace the first as the least played map. why waste time on this when there is a perfectly good VOMIT MAP idea out there? go cooper!!!

owenshooter i think you find that the crossword map is not the lest amount played but it is the low numbers played most people have not played the crossword map a fair few took the word of a few that did not like the map
tisha take no notice of the colours yet we still trying out diffrent combination
dim you never seen crossword map with tabs you do need to get out more there a few about one of the early ones was in france dating back to 173?
the combinations, verables set up and looks of a crossword i think i would need to use every member fingers and toes of very member of cc and still need more to count the diffrent types of crossword, your just use to seeing the stanard type crossword that you see in news papers

you keep saying this and i'll keep telling you that you're wrong. crosswords is the least played map. just look at the average games/month it has since it was released. saying it's a great map that had bad publicity is pure speculation. many maps got bad publicity and i gave you as example my AoM map. lot's of threads how the map is too confusing or how the map is too far from the original risk. the map has been present in all the topics like "worst map" "what map you hate the most" "most confusing map", etc. it has been banned from tourneys because people don't like it and so on and yet despite that bad publicity it has an average 11 times bigger than crosswords.
just accept the fact that crosswords is the least played map because it's the worst map. plain and simple.
WL_southerner wrote:tisha take no notice of the colours yet we still trying out diffrent combination
don't try combinations of different colors but rather combinations of different tones of the same color.

i don't need to get out more i just need to use google.
a simple search for images on google will get me 74.100 images.
http://images.google.com/images?q=crosswords&ndsp=18&svnum=10&um=1&hl=ro&lr=&start=0&sa=N
i went through the first 400 results and haven't found a single image that has the tabs you presented. i'd really want to see one.
all i can find is images like this one:
and here's your version:
i see a big difference.

mate try at least to use punctuation if you can't spell. it's really annoying because it's your own language.
anyway. i don't doubt there are many forms of crosswords. all i said i have never seen one with tabs. so i asked you to show me one.
and as far as i know the common crosswords don't have tabs.

the squares aren't big enough yet. they fit 88 but with 888 you'll have serious overlapping.
also the map is way too tall.
PS: btw, i thought you were going to present a new style not just a simple grid. perhaps make it like a page on a desk and a guy is filling the crossword. add a pencil an eraser a cup of coffee. stuff to make it better than the original.

But then I will have to make the crossword squares even smaller as I will have to add the graphics around the outside. according to the guidelings hight is not a problem and it is the only way to make the squeres bigger

dim did you not read what was said here i repeat it for you
you can over lap in to the next box has long it stays in that line
ie the line going across dont over lap with the line going down
and where there not enough room we can run in to the black area it be no diffrent to maps where they run in to the sea because theres not enough room it be all down to the best location
oh if you dont like my english the door over there some where

actually height is a problem. maps can be 600*600 for small and 800*800 for large.
and yes sometimes sacrifices must be made. and the most obvious sacrifice is that you'll have to reduce the number of terits you have. i believe cairnswk already posted about this problem and how you won't fit all those terits in 600*600 and still have triple digits not overlapping.
so instead of having a 23*23 grid make it 15*15. you'll have space for artwork and for triple digits.

now try understanding what i wrote and remember if a guy on the net speaks and writes your language better than you and on top of that english is not even his first language then it's time to pick up the books and go to school. english is a very easy and fun language and i don't really understand how you can't write your own language. the language you speak everyday. i'm not asking you to know french italian or german or any other foreign language i'm just asking you to learn the basic principles of your own language. you can't spell you can't make logical sentences and you don't know how to use punctuation. you're either 4 years old, mentally retarded or one of those kids that think spelling wrong is considered cool.

dim 1 little box is not the line a line is made up from 3 boxes to 7 boxes in a line all depends where
then you must know that they are loads of ways english is spoken in england most people in the uk do not speak the queen english but speak local english
oh and i speak gaelic to but only in person to another gaelic speaking person

you know the numbers can't be on the intersections....
but say on pink four down, the 888 has to be on the four, or the other two blank spaces. not the 5 or the 6. and it really doesn't look like 888 will fit without going into the black, and being hard to see

any form or variation of english has punctuation. so you speaking gaelic is not an excuse for the way your posts look.
