Announcement:

Just so everyone knows Vioiet has very limited computer access until late Wednesday evening. She may pop in to say hi but I'll be doing the vote counts and answering any questions you have. No deadline is set yet for this day and we won't set one unless this thread starts becoming a ghost town. Enjoy!

Sounds intriguing, there isn't much going on on the first day, and I'm sure plenty of the less experienced here have no idea what we're doing, I mean sure I know what that means having plenty of cases under my belt, but uhhh yeah perhaps it's the best we have some solid evidence to go on! 8-[
So what is it?

How about we all introduce ourselves by name? Of course, professions would probably be better left unsaid, but I don't see the harm in getting to know each other a little better. I think it would give those who are less honest among us a little less room to wiggle. Anyone have any concerns with this?

Just quoting my post to make sure people saw it. What do we think of a mass name claim, leaving roles unsaid? I can't think of any reason it would be bad for town and good for scum, unless roles could be divined from names which I don't think is possible with this game.

I don't exactly know how to handle this game..But in light from what everyone has said, I picked a cellar card and WILL go ahead and inform the town:

Monsieur brunnette is guilty.

That is all I know..

Damn it guys, don't do that. The names here are simple to fake. The only chance is to force a claim and then tell the guilty after. NJ Freezie..

They are not simple to fake. There are a limited number of names in the Clue universe. A mass name claim might help town. I can't think of any reason it wouldn't. If anyone can, let me know.

with 20 players around, it would be a lot easier than you give it credit for. And I knew that beforehand, edoc.

However, I assume the way this game will play it, we will somehow figure out people's name with investigations. Still waiting on shield to shed some light on that..

There are less than 30 characters in the clue universe. How is making fakeclaims easy at all?

If I understand properly there are more players then roles. Some must be made up. Makes fakes easy if they can be pulled out of ass.

Wrong. There are ~20 players. There are ~30 roles. So far, every role mentioned is from the clue universe.

Characters:
The originals, I know Col Mustard is in the game, so I can assume the rest are as well:
Miss Scarlet
Colonel Mustard
Mrs. White
Mr. Green
Mrs. Peacock
Professor Plum

Probably both flavour:
Mr. Black (Dead)
Mr. Boddy

From Other Games:
Miss Peach (probably in the game?)
Monsier Brunnette Mafia
Madame Rose
Sergeant Grey
Captain Brown (in the game)
Mr. Slate-Grey
Inspector Gray
Hogarth
Black Dog (unlikely to be in the game)
Lady Lavender (in the game)
Mr. and Mrs. Meadowbrook
Prince Azure
Rusty
Lord Gray

From the Movie:
Mrs. Ho (me)
The Cop (I can presume is in the game due to the following line)
The Chief (in the game)
Others

There, as of yet, doesn't seem to be any characters from the television series.

Before you all jump in and do this I will remind you that this is posted at the begining of the thread:

VioIet wrote:
The roles will be mostly traditional- however there will be a twist, of course. Clues will be given. Its a race against the clock to try to solve the mystery.

I have recieved 9 PM's with people all over the spectrum on the thought of mass claiming. From those who think it's great idea to those who think it's terrible. Either way the choice is yours. Stop asking us though what you should do and play the game slackers. Ultimately you have to live with the choice you make...if you can  .So, just putting that out there so we don't get yelled at later for something that that should be obvious....play the game and not the mods. Enjoy.

No is not. Is Captain Brown.

And i think that frenzie made a mistake. Revealing the guilty card it takes away the possibility to unmask a fake claim. That's it like a mafia though that Monsiueur Brunnete is town and ends up in a claim that can be debated. In any case, i think that kind of information make easier the job to the mafia faction.

Btw, I think that there is another character not listed: Slash. Not sure if is from the game or if it's referred to "/". It's just mentioned in my role message

I agree that card results must be hidden until people claim. Now Ms. Peach and Monsieur Brunnette can come up with different names and delay their lynches. I suggest everyone to follow Edocsil's approach from now on (he waited for his cellar card to be claimed by someone before telling what the card said).

I'm Colonel Mustard, town.

Did you draw my card, Yoshi?

All very interesting and confusing for a newbie. So let me pose a question to the more experienced. I understand so far I think that I should not reveal my character until challenged. But what if I were not a colour character? But some sort of other role as a town person. What then, keep it quiet still or put it out there to be tested.
I did not get a card last night. I asked but nothing so far.

Ok, so we can all investigate things to find out who is guilty and who is not. This is an interesting game! I have never played a game like this I investigated last night but got no leads. I am kinda of at a loss of what to do here. So in this game there is no cop? and we all must investigate our own things in order to determine things? am I getting this right? here?

Well, Rodion, it just so happens Colonel Mustard was the character mentioned both in my room report and on my weapons report, and I investigated the lounge and the revolver. I say that points to you, Rodion.
