I tried, much like A Tale of Two Cities I couldn't make it that far before I decided that burying myself in the process of writing a 2000-word thesis on nuclear physics would provide more entertainment.

And I did pass the Navy Nuclear Power Test. I had to get 50 questions right...

I got 58.

So I'm not a physics major, but I still found having to write that tedious essay more enjoyable than the Left Behind book I 'read,' which was the whole point of that post.

The only problem I remember is that like most of the end time things it sounds like everythings going to go down in the next couple of weeks.

Interesting thing about the whole end times concept is that it is something that the followers of Jesus have allways expected in thier own life time. I don't know why but Jesus talked about it that way right to his disciples. Maybe some of it is the way things translate to modern language.

If you read the bible it seems like the things leading to his return are going to happen very soon.

Some things Jesus said even seem very clear that they were going to happen in the person he was speaking to's life time. I don't know what his purpose was in telling it like that but he must have had a reason.

Specifically these.

Luke 21:32 "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place.

I don't know maybe the greek word that they translate to 'generation' meant something to do with the church and not that generation the way I think of a generation. Like a 10 - 20 year span where everyone grows up in a certain era.

One thing I find interesting is that people love to say "We're closer to the end than ever before." Chilling dude except...

As I like to remind them, "Tomorow we'll be one day closer than now."

Makes me wonder if the "rapture" thing happened then and we're the offspring of the guys left behind.

Yeah, I read The Late Great Planet Earth in the late 80's. I've also read some of his newer books. His interpretation of Revelation has changed from then to now. The book of Revelation was sealed until the time of the end (so that it could not be understood until the end times were at hand).

There are also scriptures that puts us in the last days that could not fit any other time in history.

"The generation that sees the Jews gathered back to their homeland (Israel established in 1948) would be the generation that sees ALL these things come to pass"

It also talks about "The Army of the East" crossing the Euphrates River. Which would have been an impossible feat years ago but today there is a dam built on that river that can be used to dry up the river to allow it to be crossed.

I don't know how far off we are but within the next 50 years would be a good estimate. And I personally think we are much closer than that.

Ok obviously everything could go down tomorow and every day we're one day closer, but I'm thinking the book of Revelation might still be sealed.

There's too much bickering about it. Caleb "comet hunter" the cruel and his friends with their interpretations for example.

I allready mentioned the "generation" thing above. I don't know if Isreal the country established fits that bill. I know there's a whole movement of christians that help fund "jewish" people in moving there to help the prophesy happen faster but I don't see the point. If it's supposed to happen it will people don't have to fund it.

I find that "army of the east" being China as plausable. That's one big group of people there.

I notice you missed the concept of world wide banking with a single number that wasn't possible until somewhat recently also.

Secondly, you and Kokunai we're all over me shouting "off-topic poster" a few days ago for one errant post about oil, which really was in context of the thread anyway, so why are you not all over the last dozen posts which are nothing to do with WWIII?

Also, since you say English will side with USA in this scenario of yours (which they will, I do not doubt), do you know that England has the higher percentage of muslims in their country than any other one in Europe ?

Caleb "comet hunter" the cruel
..... gotta love it! :P

I don't know, he never explained to me how he came up with the years 2012 comet and 2036 war. I try not to set dates. We can not know the day nor the hour but we can know the "season".

No doubt. A one world government with one currency is very possible today. Computer chips under the skin, the EU, the increase in natural disasters.... you'd have to have your eyes closed not to see the changing of the "season".

IT'S ALL BOLLOCKS. Jay you are talking nonsense.

Bertros my opinion on the rapture is, I'm open to the concept but I'll believe it when I see it.

However yes I am suggesting if it exists at all, I think it might have allready happened, so sorry if you are waiting for it.

The thing is the rapture concept people tell me it's something supported by the bible until I ask them where, then they cite things that are way too open for interpretation for my liking.

I do wonder if it happened like 20 - 30ad. If you consider the concept from the stance of what Jesus is credited with saying, to me some of the things he told his disciples sound like they would be raptured.

Those things are the only things actually in the bible that lend any creadibility to the idea in my opinion, and again I think it's too open for making up what you want it to be. Sorry I'm kind of a jerk to the rapture people, especially the pre tribulation ones. Even though I suppose I sort of am a pretribulation if at all, wayyyy pretriblulation.

Cool, I'll mark it on my calender and try to drop by if the nurses are ok with it unless I'm raptured. If that happens you're on your own. Muah ha ha ha.

30 years eh? Sounds good. Too bad you won't be back in 30 years. :(

You have to take all of scripture together in order to conclude the rapture hasn't happened yet. In Revelation 18 it describes the destruction of "The Great Babylon" Just prior to its destruction, it states that Gods people will be taken up to avoid sharing in the judgment of The Great Babylon. Which some believe (as do I) that the Great Babylon is the United States of America. Which would explain why the US is not mentioned in end time prophecy and the Battle of Armageddon.

I don't think I'm on the same page Jay.

When you talk "rapture" are you reffering to the left behind book concept.

"Mom? Huh wonder where she is? Here's her dress in the chair she was sitting in and it's still warm, here's her beer and tomatoe juice and it's still cold. Golly that's odd."

I might just be reading it this way but it seems you're refering to Jesus telling people he'd come back and everyone would see him.

Completely different, no?
