I did a classic inspired map in "Prince of the City"under drafts and am just getting shot down for being too like classic.
I don't recommend wasting any time.

This is also in the drafting forum in Prince of the City...this is the version with no background. Anyone think this isn't different enough from Classic?

Of course maps can be inspired by the general layout and structure, as a number of maps are. If you are interested in making a map, read over some of the guidelines and check out the map ideas and suggestions. :)

I understand why we can't have a WORLD map that has the gameplay of classic. No matter how much we change the graphics, it will still be the exact same map.

But, why can't we have a classic of something else? It does not even have to be a "map" look at the Poison Rome that cairns is making... We could use a similar concept of taking something that is not a map, making a map out of it and putting classic gameplay on it. I don't see why we have to use poorly drawn boxes for a map rather than making those boxes look good like cairns is doing now.

I can make a few gameplay changes to the map. I just wanted it to remain the true classic. But, there are already 2 almost the same classics.

What if we took the original map and added an Arctic and Antarctic to the top and bottom of the maps respectively. Each would be three territories, and if the entire Arctic or Antarctic is held, would give an added deployment of 1 man per turn, or 3 men per turn if both are held simultaneously. The three Arctic territories would be able to attack Greenland, Scandinavia, and Siberia, while the three Antarctic territories would be able to attack Argentina, South Africa, and Western Australia.

Finally, the South America Bonus would be worth 3 armies instead of 2, and Africa would be worth 4 armies instead of 3

What do you guys think?

Isn't that just a remake of world 2.1? The current world 2.1 is fine IMHO.

Maybe you guys should stop saying the "c" word and you might get a bit further. Or the "H" word or anything else connect with "R". This thread seems to be the receptacle for "Doh" moments.

Who are you trying to kid ?
Do you think that CC is anything but a knock-off of RISK ?
Sure we have many different maps and options, but it still remains a variation on a theme.
You can pile on all the condiments you like, but in the end, ... it is still a Hot Dog.
And that is just fine with me, -I like hot dogs.
