The Green Knight is the beheading story - "you chop of my head today, provided I can take a swing at you in a year's time."

Come on? That story is retarded. He goes on a ride and every ten feet he meets a diffent knight to challenge? Each of them has a different colored armor, and each has more servants than the last?

Story is dumb. I only read it thrice.

Ehm... you haven't read a whole lot of medieval literature, have you? It's always a knight every ten feet, and the maid who offers at least five hundred kisses and at least a hundred thousand prayers, and the knights always either get whooped quick or knock each other off and destroy each other's gear and swords and wind up at a tie, then become boon brothers through some unforeseen mechanic. Except Gawain and the Green Knight, of course... that one's really funny. "And he kissed him thrice upon the lips." Of course, it's newer, so not so much the romance style.

Or kill each other cos they're both wearing false armour and then realise they were best buds/brothers... like Balin and Balan.

Well, while the thread is called "share your views", I don't think it was meant for voyeurs...

no, yer getting Gareth and Gawain mixed up.

Big hands is Gareth? My bad...

It actually means "pretty hands". It's th name Kay gives him when he arrives at Camelot.

Incidentally, it should be pronounced "Bow -Maynz", not "Boman" - this is closer to Norman French than modern. It sounds a bit like Jersiaise, if you've ever heard that.

Seriously no until Juan sent me that link I hadn't seen this one.

But if people want to go off to a private forum where they will not resort to sarcasm even in the face of the most blatant ignorance, not return an insult no matter what the provocation, then, good luck to them, but I don't think it going to work for long. Not be all that interesting.

As for me, yes I would rather discuss things rationally, with an occasional joke. I usually do. But on occasion you just can't resist. And when someone ignores a valid question (whatever their standpoint) it stops being a debate.

Remind me, did anyone ever answer my question about whether the earth orbits the sun or vice-versa? Or are people still checking Genesis? Or have they decided it was just too hard a question?

And, as another example, did anyone who believes "Dating by rocks is just plain wrong" explain how it's "supposed" to work and why it doesn't?

That's a negative to the second question.

The first was much longer ago, and that's a negative to that one too.
OOps, answered my own question.

Umm, I don't think so.

Or are you suggesting that the categories "militant atheists", "conspiracy theorists", and "forum rules violaters" contain no liberals.

-or is this another example of the internet making it hard to detect sarcasm?

I was just spamming your thread. Mocking liberals is just something I like to do to pass the time.

I know libs are everywhere. Like cockroaches

Cola brands? Not particular these days, though I'd say Pepsi out of those two.
There was a time when they didn't make allergy medicines which you could drink alcohol with, and at that time I became a cola connoisseur. In those days, I was all for Canada Dry with a thin slice of lime.

have u ever had one from philly?

if u havent all those shitty ones u grab off the local diner menues in the midwest are a scam

Yes, I've had a philly cheesesteak in the home of said item. Excellent.
The worst one I had was at a diner in NJ, where they'd obviously heard of a cheessteak but somehow never seen one. There was some beef in there (burnt) some onion (raw) and some cheese (I think that's what it was), all in a soggy burger bun. UGhh.

On the other hand, the diner about a half mile from my home does a goodun.
