Do you mean that a deadbeats armies go neutral and so no active player would ever get the opportunity to terminate them? This is a backward step, it used to work like that before.

Or are you suggesting that any deadbeats armies not eliminated before the end of the game should cause the deadbeat to lose points? In theory this sounds fine but i suspect in practice you will just get the winner to corner his last opponent and keeping the game alive artificially while he kills the deadbeats

the problem with this is that I can get into a battle and use up armies early on against a player who I assume will see out the game...

...when he then deadbeats, (and lots of players deadbeat once they start losing, not all deadbeats quit on turn 1) bnot only have I wasted armies on him, but I would get no benefit although he may have quit because I have reduced him to a state where he has effectively given up. Meanwhile the player(s) I have not been actively fighting may have grown strong enough to take me out.

Surely the point of terminator is that you don't necessarily have to win (though that is ideal!), sometimes it's better to take points from the opponents you can to reduce your losses or hope for a net gain out of the game

Agreed, anything we can do to stop point inflation would be great.

Looking at the scoreboard earlier, I noticed that if you eliminate new recruits from the scoreboard, about 90% of all players are above 1000 points.

Point inflation can't be stopped... every time a new player joins, 1000 points are added to the pot.

This is my favorite option. I do not like the all armies to neutral that you suggested after, though. Here are some benefits/explaination to causing deadbeats to lose points at the end, without changing anything else.

- All other players still have an option to eliminate the deadbeat player for points. Like someone else mentioned, part of Terminator is that even if you are weak you can save points by taking a weaker opponent out.

- The cards are still active. This creates a scenario that eliminates the complete neglect for a deadbeat player.

- Deadbeating can be looked at as a surrender. No matter how many people on the map, it's a world war to the end. Anyone surrendering would basically be surrendering to the world super power (whoever wins the game).

Some people say that a change would defeat the purpose of Terminator. I feel that the purpose of Terminator still holds it's true value if this change is made. Players who do not deadbeat can still eliminate people (and even deadbeats) to gain their points and cards. The entire purpose of Terminator is still there, the only difference is that at the end, any deadbeats are considered terminated by the winning person.

Another option would be to just penalize the last remaining active player who deadbeats by considering him terminated by the winner. But as Yorkie said, that would just lead to more people dragging out games so they can finish off every person. Imagine being a freebie who's sitting there with 1 army while someone else finishes off their turn. Especially bad if it's a once a day player doing it.

I do not like the points lost to neutral idea. People like to feel like they accomplished something (hence the complaints about terminator points). Point inflation is a good thing because it allows for any new recruit to have a gob of points to advance in rank. Advancement breeds a sense of fun; and is more conducive to keeping people around and making them want to play. It's not like points can be used to purchase anything, so there really is no harm in allowing it to inflate.

To keep all terminator deadbeat solutions in 1 place. I'm not a fan of your solution, giving the points to all other players; it gives points to people who didn't do anything to earn them.

I find myself swayed by treefiddy's reasoning. His solution (keep deadbeat armies in the game and deadbeat points go to last man standing) makes sense. It's kinda like fast-forwarding through the end-game.

At the moment, if a game of Terminator comes down to two players, if one player misses three turns, the game is over but no points are awarded to the other player (eg game 842842). This means if players think that they will not win, but their opponent cannot win in three turns, it encourages them to deadbeat. Simple solution - in these circumstances, deadbeaters lose points to the other player...

this has been proposed several times.

also this improvement could help speed up some annoying games where 1 guy is pinned down to just one terit and the strong guy takes his time to wipe the board of the deadbeats. i've done this and to be honest i felt sorry for the pinned guy especially if he was non premium.
