Epi is still the most interesting pressure point for me. Role fished and essentially tried to soft claim 3p so that no one would take an interest.

sure we can hunt, but i think in the end its more about making alliances, cause we might just have 2 - 3 ? 4? (16 players) parties of equal numbers, perhaps equal roles, who knows. go against eachother. so if there are multiple parties its gonna be about alliances aswell. 2 partys eliminating 1 from another party. i dont have a clue about the format either but since the first post said: be aware from the start the balance might be different i am just throwing out some ideas.

How do you expect we make alliances? How do we tell which party is considered third party? (Im not big into politics so I dont know how it works...)

And an alliance of what? Im not gonna vote for you if you dont vote for me? That's stupid in my opinion because we dont know our party members (unless you're mafia or a mason if we have them) and therefore cant make any real connection. I dont follow your reasoning?

My thought on the first Speaker is to anoint a VT or weak role. The Speaker is already going to have a target on his back so I'd rather not see us give it to a PR only to get whacked right off the bat.

Here starts the rolefishing. I also don't really understand the target on back of Speaker, as it only grants the power to call for vote (soft-ending the day). But that power will be in the game for the entire game, killing off whoever is currently speaker won't solve that. It's a weird post.

Well, in RL I don't think there is a political party actively trying to kill me--make of that what you will.

I was going to vote for myself but that has the same effect as abstaining. At least by abstaining I can still use my vote before the deadline if I choose instead of wasting it on myself.

I just can't get on board giving someone power based on nothing. I understand that someone has to be elected speaker right off the bat, so we've got to do something. However, I'm reserving my vote until someone does something that I find townie. I'm surprised how little discussion is going into this.

Yawn. I knew someone would accuse me of role fishing for that first comment. Obviously, you didn't see my point so let me break it down for you.

1) The speaker does have more power, which makes him a target.
2) Make the speaker a low value role so that if we lose the speaker, we don't lose a PR too.

Apparently, no one liked that idea and that's fine, maybe it wasn't very good. But at least it's trying to put some thought into the game whereas no one really wanted to do that in the speaker vote. I'm surprised there weren't more people trying to get a little more information to help make a more educated vote.

I'd rather look at the voting patterns to start the day. You guys can question me all you want about my abstention because that's my voting record, but I have a question for the rest of you: why did you vote the way you did? If we're going to look at the Speaker votes the same way you look at normal mafia voting, the way Streaker has by saying I voted "no lynch", then why did you guys all vote the way you did? Streaker was ordained out of the blue and a lot of people just hopped on the wagon. Talk about weird.

we had 1 day to decide basicly, it was random one way or another, at the point i voted there were 2 people with some votes maybe 3, so suggesting someone new seemed pointless. so i decided to vote streaker;
A: i know him (sorry BG but dont know you that well)
B: i know he has a schedule compared to mine, we are in the same timezone and we seem to have a similar activity schedule (sleep, work, freetime) thus i would think he would make deadlines which are ok for me aswell.

i do see the point of the comment, ideally we have a confirmed town speaker, but we only had 1 day. even if someone claimed we usualy need more time to discuss whether it probable or not what is claimed so what is it worth?

I agree with BG here, at this point the speaker role is over thought.

I would say no way to this.

I would imagine Mets try to fashion it like a typical two party system (which most democratic nations are): a bunch of liberals, a bunch of conservatives and a few third parties.

In a 16 player game I would guess something like, 6-7 of each major party and then 2-4 third parties who are independent of each other.

also, if my theory is correct, then looking at killing someone is different than a typical game. Instead of scumhunting, we're trying to lynch people who aren't on our parties, which is a little tricky.

I'm not sold on the epi rolefishing case really. This is different than typical mafia because a role is only so much, you need to know alignment as well. It's not as black and white as usual.

Given that this is a pretty non-standard set up, it seems like Epi was driving toward unproductive or unhelpful discussion.

In a game like this, alignment claims are probably what will be sought after as much as anything, so for Epi to be trying to get a confirmed townie, is essentially alignment fishing as much as role fishing. Just because Epi acts like Epi is oblivious towards it doesnt mean Epi is.

You think the other party knows who are their members? I believe there are two parties and maybe some 3rd, but no one knows who is aligned to which side, so defending someone in the voting process will not happen, unless we have an alignment claim.

Just for example lets say epi claims alignment A
Then I claim alignment B.
Streaker calls the vote and everyone votes for the person whos alignment does not match their own trying to gain the numerical advantage for D2.
Of course people have various actions to affect this somehow and 3rd party has its own goals so it wont be so simple in practice but i imagine most everyones alignment will be known fairly quickly.

well, if there are two parties with equal amounts on both sides, voting will get weird. If we follow Endgame's scenario above, epi and him would have the same votes based on the two big parties and it'd come down to a third party vote.

but with the third parties probably not being aligned, it'd get weird.


that being said, I don't want to claim my alignment and put a possible target on my back. I don't want people knowing they should lynch me rather than there being some mystery

Honestly this should go a fair amount like the Civil War mafia game did back in the day. If Epi wants to claim third party alignment, it is kind of a no brainer fall back option for both groups, since giving the upper hand to the other side is a no-no.

You would think a 3p is a good fall back option, but that didn't quite work out in HP mafia.

I think until we see some people start flipping, we approach this like a standard mafia game, i.e. go after the most scummy.

I explained my vote as I made it, I've played with streaker more than with BG, so I went with streaker. There wasn't really time for much discussion or really figuring out anyone at that point; if streaker does a bad job we can always replace him anyway.

The combination of your role fishing and trying to make the speaker vote more than it was makes me vote epi as the person I most disagree with at the moment.

so my feeling in this game is that we won't learn anything until at least the night. If my theory of the game is correct, there is no scum vs town, so trying to interpret scumtells at this point of the game doesn't make sense.

We'll learn the most info by lynching someone and finding out their alignment and...well, unfortunately for epi, the avalanche against him has begun
