For people that didn t follow the groups;

Ecuador is with Switzerland, France and Honduras. Since trevor was saying that ecuador wouldn t qualify, and since i know he despises France, I asked if he thought that Honduras was the one who would qualify (theoretically the weakest team of the 4). The first thing that came to his mind was that I thought that Honduras was a South American team..

Oh yeah sorry, I'm the arrogant.

My comment was clear and closed to any unfunny 'jokes'.

Plus I didn't call you idiotic, I said your statement was idiotic... two very different things.

And Yes you are arrogant... so am I but at least I can admit it.

If you want to talk seriously about Frances group I think it's once of the worse and France should win it but will be harder without Frank.

I think this thread needs a cool-down period.

Locked until TeeGee has a chance to look at the reports that have come out of it.

That makes Colombia and Greece the enemies. Death to Colombian-Greeks!

Pretty sure it will be colombia with either japan or ivory coast! I always have sympathy for ivory coast and japan too.

Watching france right now, 5-0 against jamaica and half an hour to go. Now that ribery is absent, they put giroud as the striker and benzema on the side. Benzema still scored 2 so far.

The game ends 8-0 for france, griezman, benzema and matuidi score twice. Giroud and cabaye score one each.
Switzerland, in our group only managed to beat them 1-0 last week.
And now we re taking the tickets to brazil!!

That's quite crazy, but then again it's Jamaica.

And that was embarrassing to see how bad they play... I think they just came for tourism, not to play football. Hussain bolt should be in the team just for fun. Bob marley used to play for them!

France have the easiest group by far. It will be interesting to see who follows up second though.

Over the weekend I realised Colombia are ranked fourth in the world. What a shit ranking system that is.

do you even know who plays for colombia? They have a hell of a team, even without falcao, definitely the best colombian team we've ever seen. They are top 10 most definitely.

France has a rather easy group, but I'm not all that confident. Switzerland is ranked 6th right now and is also probably the best swiss team I've ever seen (let's not forget they won vs spain in group stage of last world cup too).
I am completely clueless of what honduras is worth so I don't trust them. Ecuador seems pretty shitty, I just know Valencia there and I think they got their qualification just ecause they play their home games in Quito, but I'm not all that confident either (well they did 2-2 against england 3 days ago right?)

All I know is that for the 2010 world cup people thought we had a very easy group with south africa, uruguay and mexico and we ended up last of the group lol.

I do have to say I like the group of players we are bringing to brazil. Probably not the most talented french players in activity; but a close knit group with lots of young talents and hard working elders. (Not the clowns that went on strike in the middle of the 2010 world cup)
Anyway, our ambition is to rebuild our team, trying to make it up to quarter finals in this world cup to gain experience to help us win the eurocup 2016 where we will be the host nation.

I know they do, but they are not fourth best in the world. Top ten sure, but not fourth. I wouldn't put them above Brasil, Argentina, Spain, Germany, Holland.. Maybe more.

I wouldn't be either if I was supporting France. You guys often seem to have an unpredictable result these days, although your squad is pretty strong, perhaps the best it's been since Zidane's time. You should go through with nine points, but I wouldn't be surprised by a draw against Switzerland.

actually, colombia is ranked 8th not 4th. The top of the ranking is rather accurate in my opinion; but france isn't 17th, that's for sure, I would put us top ten too.

http://en.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtable/

oh; and we are definitely not finishing with 9 points!

regarding england: I have absolutely no clue where you guys stand compared to italy; that is your opening match and I think that it will pretty much decide wether you make it or not. I would give italy favorite, but anything can happen. I don't really see uruguay not making it though... and that might be a mistake. Uruguay could shite themselves too, not to mention that suarez is back from surgery and we don't know if he will play.

Oh. Obviously the information I got was a bit wrong. 8th seems much more reasonable, although I still think the system is slightly skewed. Everyone knows Switzerland are not a top ten team!

Your squad has the potential to finish with nine, I just doubt you will.

England will be interesting I think. Personally, I don't rate Hodgson highly at all but I'm glad he hasn't been starting Gerrard with Lampard since every manager for the past 5-7 years has done that and we've gotten nowhere. The first game against Italy will obviously mean a lot. They're a very defensive team and experienced, but we've got pace. If we get a win, a draw and a loss we should go through.

I'm taking bets on the number of red cards in the world cup. To play, you simply need to have SaxBucks (or their equivalent in Conquer Stars), and then simply post your wager and the amount of red cards you think will occur, without going over.

Prizes are non-transferable and are as follows:

[Edit: After further consultation with the Prize Committee and due to high demand, iAmCaffeine's Urine has been slotted as a Participation Prize, and a replacement 6th Prize is below]

1st Prize = AoG "Handshake"
(What he is shaking is up to you)
2nd Prize = A day in the life of betiko, including unlimited baguettes
3rd Prize = Astute sports analysis from oVo on the sport of your choice
4th Prize = Swedish meatballs made by Gillipig
5th Prize = nietzsche's love and/or hate
6th Prize = Serbia leaving you a voicemail that where he simply states "Bollocks"

Participation Prize = iAmCaffeine's Urine, which has been doused all over this topic

A handshake with AoG sounds impractical due to the height difference, and I'm sure he has filthy hands, almost as filthy as Nietzsche, but only almost, he isn't mexican after all so let's not go crazy here.
A day in the life of Betiko sounds like punishment, not a price. I imagine I would have to french kiss my family members and generally slob all over strangers just because that's the way all french people greet each other.
Ovo's sport analysis normally contains the briefest information possible on who won and then not much more, I can deal with that I suppose but it's really not much of a price.
The fourth place price sounds tempting, I think I'm going to aim for fourth place. It's also the only price I know for certain I would actually recieve.
I've already got Nietzsche's love and hate, so this would be an empty prize for me.
I'd rather not have Serbia's voicemails, he's annoying enough in the written language, I have a feeling the spoken language wouldn't be any less annoying.

Honduras fight dirty, England had a nasty 0-0 draw against them where they threw out some leg-breaking crunching tackles, it was miraculous no one got injured. Don't underestimate Ecuador either, their players will at least be acclimatised to playing in the temperatures.

Yes, that s kind of the idea I have about honduras. A team with no talent but extremely fierce that will defend harshly. Hope we won t get any injuries...
