If your score is lower then he gets more points when your team wins. If you artificially lower your score so that he gets more points, then you are cheating.

You have had no one in the community defend your actions. Most feel that what you are doing is in poor taste. If you would like to seek measures to get your name removed from the SIL you can petition for the committee to hear your case. I will contact them if you like, but I am 99% certain that they will stand by the decision to add you.

Sigh. Must say that I hoped that this silly idea would die out and ya’ll would go back to your regular business.

Again, I would like to point out the obvious: This is your personal suggested ignore list (or rather you and your “Committee’s” suggested ignore list). This is in no way a reflection about the general CC Community’s feelings. So far, I’ve only seen a dozen or so people posting in here. And those favoring this kind of bs-list are the same people who usually sit on a high horse as soon as tactics and strategies are discussed.

In the post above, you are allowed to go on a witch-hunt against this simtom guy. In my opinion, this should be done in the flame wars section, not under some kind of moral fake authority like this.

I had hoped that you would address the obvious sooner or later, like for example this post by ZawBanjito:

ZawBanjito wrote:I'm stating that it strikes me as counterproductive (shall we say) that you've started a big witchhunt forum for people who feel a need to complain more than they are otherwise politely allowed to, swaggering around like a sheriff doing "research" and passing judgement like a moderator, and then coming across hurt and defensive when people point out that there's no need to be doing what you're doing, like "I was just trying to help and I guess that some people want games to be ruined." Clearly, the vast majority wants either of those things.

So I'll ask a question: Why? Why are you doing this? Name one need that is being filled by this list you're putting together. One thing that is not already filled by a function of the site, or an appointed moderator, or the good common sense of any player here.

But I guess you’re not up to speaking about that pink elephant in the room, are you you little wanker? At least you is a little bit amusing, reading your posts in here makes me smile about the vanity of Man... :D

No one is making anybody do anything, u don't have to use this list at all, u could completely ignore it. In the end, it is up to the person to put these people on their ignore list, no one is forcing them.

Great advice....

I choose to ignore the Community Suggested Ignore List [not CC-sanctioned] for non-Hasbro Risk,
and I choose instead to just play the game.

Its not cheating unless it's aganist the rules.

Practically all the highest ranked players use that tactic.

It's up to the Mods and Lack wether or not deadbeating on purpose and lowering you score than playing with a friend is aginast the rules or not.

The point stays the same. You deadbeated TONS of games, wether on purpose or not, and annoyed a HUGE part of the community. Your name will stay on the list UNLESS you prove you're not deadbeating anymore and playing your games. And to revoke that, it might and will take more than days.

Thanks for your feelings on the matter. From now on we won't be requiring anyone to post whether they will or won't ignore the list. If you choose to ignore it then please do so. If you choose to heed its advice feel free. If you think that someone is a hindering the site and it's progress feel free to post the accused's name.

Thanks everyone for their opinions and ideas!

I thought you all might be interested to know that I did contact Lack about the list and its objectives. He responded with the following:

lackattack wrote:Hi GrazingCattle,

I agree that deadbeats are a huge problem that must be dealt with and I applaud your efforts to fight it! I would like to abolish the missed turns multiplier to avoid strategic deadbeating but I'm waiting until I have time to implement a vacation setting. Also, newbie deadbeats can't be avoided by ignoring them because they don't ever come back. The solution for that is a proper training system. I'd rather focus on those two initiatives when I get back from vacation.

Cheers and thanks for the feedback!

--lackattack

Also, the newly formed Committee will be posted today. A separate thread will be used as an open floor discussion of Accused and their actions. This thread will still be used for Accusations to be made. The committee will vote in private but results will be posted. Feel free to let your voice be heard in the open discussion thread. If you for any reason morally object to this list feel free to ignore it. If you would like to have someone viewed by the committee please feel free to post, but make sure to also post a place where the committee can find proof of said actions.

Thanks again to all!

I accuse GrazingCattle for his McCarthy-esque syntax and tactics as someone completely without joy and legitimately worthwhile to be put on your ignore list.

His little post of feedback from lack notwithstanding because this ignore list isn't about deadbeats solely. It's about witch hunting for any cause that any accuser wishes to make an issue as hindering the site.

For instance, I think this joyless b.s. effort hinders the site. And, that is why I nominate GrazingCattle and any others in the braintrust of this corrupted and petty effort.

Those kind of oppinions are not worth to be put on here, you know. If this is hindering the site, might aswell leave multis and secret alliances roam over. Bring back the most annoying players aswell..

This is a suggested ignore list for players that most people judge annoying.

Also..this is people you would want to add to your ignore list...Posts on the forums are unlikely to count, so your accusation of Grazing is absolutly argumentless.

whats funny about this whole thing is that the people griping about the list and how it shouldn't be cus its a head hunting, McCarthy tactic etc...

I only see 1 name on the list and several have been posted about..so its not like anybody and everybody is going on the list

Since Lack thinks its a good idea why....it really doesn't matter what any of us say

I think GC is doing something good for the CC community..hes not arm twuisting anybody to do anything

Ok, I think it's time to get some people on this list. I went through my own ignore list and found the 3 worst. Here they are.

fmystic 10-11
Gary 43-19
VanMar 5-9

All three of these have large numbers of negative feedback. All 3 also leave leave large numbers of negative feedback.

fmystic: most complaints against him were for deadbeating rt's. That 11 is not including the one I left him, then deleted later. he joined my rt, then within a few minutes said he had to go in ten minutes. He's left 4 fb's 3 negative.

Gary: most complaints against him complaining and for poor play. The ones he left were mostly complaining about poor play and accusing of secret alliances.

VanMar: Most complaints against him were for foul language and insults. The ones he left were mostly complaining of poor play and secret alliances.

So there are the 3 people I would like to suggest. I have explained their fb, and fb that they left for others. Each person on the committee should decide for themselves if this is worth ignoring or not, this is only my opinion. However, clearly a lot of the people who played with these three later wished they hadn't, so please take that into consideration too.

I cannot find VanMar on the scoreboard. He is either inactive, or have been taken cared off already.

Hehe… well, well… If I have to spell it out one more time: This list and the people taking part of it is a bunch of very annoying people. The self-righteousness is beyond words. And I find it to be quite appalling. The whole "J'accuse!" thing is ridiculous.

And yes. I will gladly ignore this thread when people stop harassing other players under the clout of public backing like this. In short: Mind your own business, use your ignore list and stop being so pretentious.

Good luck. This is the second this name was posted. However, I’ve seen no “Committee” discussions/votes on the matter.

However, I guess that would be like if the Politburo would have voted Stalin of the ballot lists… :D

I discussed the matter already.

The Politiburo has spoken.

Well, well. You're all a bunch of wankers if you ask me. Why don't you guys try to play some games instead of engaging in this pointless exercise of moral hubris?

I am playing the game, but since I havent bought premium yet ( heck..I own no credit card so..) my games are rather slow.

And I would highly dislike someone as Simtom going into one of my game and delibaratly slow it.

And I know much more people think the same. And some who dont know him, will now know he is annoying and highly disliked, so they will place him into their ignore list too.

It's a step forward to making the site a better place to be, if we didn't enjoy playing the game, we wouldn't even be talking about it here.

Go ahead and play with people that will deliberatly annoy you, not my problem. Ignore this list completly, you're free to do it.

I wish I had heard about simtom before I had the misfortune to play him in two games. The deadbeating was bad enough, but for someone without premium membership it must have been especially annoying. Worse than the delay for me was the effect of simtom's neutral armies had on the game after he was kicked out. His decision to deadbeat had a definite effect on the game for me and I'm sure for the other players as well.

If you can bring attention to even one player like simtom, your effort will have been worthwhile.

People will criticize this effort, and you should consider their criticism, adjust your procedures as neccessary if you believe it's warranted, but if you find that it's unpersuasive you should reject the criticism and persist in your effort. You will not receive universal acclaim for your efforts. That's perhaps quite an understatement. Pay attention to the naysayers only when they have a valid point to make. The more hyperbole you find in their argument, the less weight you should give it.

Thanks for pursuing this.

I looked at fmystic out of his feedbacks 3 were unwarranted and in my opinion should be removed:

game 259483 (he received 2 negs!)
game 291022 (1 neg)

One neg was debatable:

game 288138 (40 min delay - real life happens at some point over 90+ games)

Looking through fmystic's games though you can see that he delays in about one third of his rt games - usually causing the game to slip out of RT. What does the community think? Is ruining one third of your RT games worthy of being on the list? Should he be in a seperate section for RT ignore lists only?

It's not worthy of EVERYONE'S list. But, those who play a lot of RTs would probably want him in their's. Someone who play a RT once in a while won't find any uses to it, as he seems like a player who knows what he is doing.

when the list finally starts, there should be a breif note next to each player explaining why they are on it. It will help those looking at the list to do their own research because they'll know what to look for. It will also help them to decide if they think it's worth ignoring.

If you guys would, please take the discussion about accused's actions to the CSIL Open discussion thread please.

As for those who have "moral" objections to this program, I would like to know how many of you are premium? I am premium now, but when I wasn't I HATED deadbeaters. When you have premium it isn't as big a deal but it still can hinder game play.

I personally don't like to play with people who are over the top profane. I don't like to play against those players because it is usually sign of frustration, as I know  , and I normally am level headed in may games, with few exceptions.

If you have a problem with this, allow me to encourage you not to enlighten me. If you have a constructive critisim feel free to post!

Thanks for all your help!
