As language evolves, a lot of words/names get shorter, so why not create shortened versions of the country names:
California -> Forna
Mexico -> Mexo
Ontario -> Taro

Or come up with eco-political re-naming:
California -> West Disney
Columbia -> Starbucks
New Zealand -> Weta Studios
Japan -> Top Fun Manga Land
or things like that...

USApocalypse did a great job changing names to reflect the passage of time, suggesting what happened between now and then. Come up with some stories (wars, merging countries/cultures, aliens invade, we genetically engineer cats giving them the ability to speak...) that will help decide the names. Maybe humans have largely left earth and it is now a museum/park? Maybe they try to use old names for things but get some wrong? Maybe the legend could look like the map they hand you when you come to visit earth?

I dunno, both ideas are goofy, I suggest you jsut go with the general region name.

I just realized how 'off' this map is...there would be so many more mountains in real life if this were to happen! Confusing....

Just made it up.

Back on topic... while I don't hate the straight lines, I think the territory borders would look nicer with some curves.

As for the names, I think they're okay as they are, it's just a few of the longer ones that need to be reduced. Instead of having names like Eastern America Basin, you could give them names of cities or states in the area.

yeah but we want to create a futuristic map...so place names will not be the same as we know them now!!!

Lets think and not rush this.....

What will happen to europe, america or ussia in the next 100 or so years... I for one know that in 50 years time the town i live in will be under the water due to global warming....

Lets not be boring and have a good think of what the future will be like in 250,000,000 years time

I doubt there'll be much left of the earth in 250 million years from now.

It'll be a cool Earth. A bit radiated, but cool. Smoker's paradies, assuming hemp doesn't dissapear.

Bump: Any progress?

BTW Pangea ultima is a possibility. It's not certain what will happen.

You should let the map authors do the bumps. If there isn't any progress or reply from them, there's no point in bumping it to the first page for all to see.

I don't like the Madagascar bit. I thought Africa joined with S. America, not N. America the way you have it.

I really like the map colours, textures, etc. Nothing wrong with colours, fonts here. Keep it up. I was about to request a Pangea map, but Mr. Search helped me out before I got flamed!

250 years in the future, not the past.
