if being partially selfsufficient is your thing, there were and are enough properties to be bought in the USA that cost less then 10 cents a dollar due to repo's.
Still i am betting that you did not make your money growing and selling carrots though...

I have only grown one carrot and we ate it,very delicious, the seeds were too old so that was responsible for the small crop. I have a huge flat deck truck parked where the garden was so I don't even know if I can plant this year.

I don't know if the US&A is a place were I want to be for a currency apocolipse as it could be dangerous to have too many carrots on hand. There's too many mean people there now and it's merely a reccesion.
