Hey I dont completely understand, but you said winning games faster would help get more points. Yet his PG got more points in a game he won in round 7 or 8 (cant exactly remember) than my PF did in a game I won in round 4....why is that? Thanks, I am enjoying this as well, look forward to other tourneys from you!

It's more looking at the score differential between PGs/SGs, etc...also, the difference between a 4-round win and a 7-round win may not be much, but it should be a greater difference between a 5-round win and an 11-round win. Hope that makes sense.
Your shooting percentage is off the charts for wins in 4-5 rounds, but you don't put up as much baskets.
When a game goes longer, both players are building more shots but the winning player's % drops.
Winning quickly is more about defense and shutting down an opponents player...if the losing player can extend the game, he can usually pull closer as the rounds move into double digits.

18 first-round games...and 9 are now final...check the bracket for scores...I haven't been able to post the Scoreboards yet...those will go up Saturday night for those who want a closer look. Quite a few others are nearing a finish.
I'm seeing a lot of smart play out there when tallying up the scores...well done everyone

Scoreboards and bracket updated through Saturday night.
Congrats to LSU, Syracuse and Cal, who are the most recent to advance into the second round with Washington just moments away from joining them.
Next update will be Monday morning, along with available second-round games being sent out.

Flex ... PG was the default star and I was happy with that (as was for Classic Map) so didn't designate, but showing that I have chosen SG ????

So one question as I finish game planning for Vermont's date with Cal this weekend. I understand the whole shooting percentage side of the formula, its just how the shot attempts are formed that I'm still unclear on. So for where it says regions, I take its the # of armies you get for holding territories. I take that to be cumulative throughout the game? And the Cards/Neutrals is that the # of armies acquired through cards divided by the number of neutral territories your conquer, or in addition to the # of neutrals you take out? Ditto with the free throws, are they division or addition based?

I will check into both of the above questions and put a clearer formula explanation in Monday morning/afternoon.

I've had several questions about how exactly the scoring works...I reposted an example in the rules/guidelines section. That post is now found under the boxscores and such.
I'm hoping that it is clearer than my original explanation.
Also, I had to add shooting % lines for wins in 4 and 5 rounds...didn't expect people to be able to finish maps off that quickly, but several did

Thanks for the explanation, Flex! It's a bit clearer now. Unfortunately, Coach Ricrem has already taken off his blazer only 30 seconds into the game after realizing his team inexplicably are still wearing their snow boots instead of their Nikes (picked up 2nd drop in 6 of the 7 maps.) He nearly got teed up for screaming at his own equipment manager, but a quick sip from his flask has seemingly calmed him down for the time being. The question now is, Will Vermont get their new shoes on in time, or will their boots put them into too deep of a hole? Stayed tuned to CCN to find out!

My math is fuzzy (I blame the flask) But I think Vermont may have advanced to the 3rd round after a tight victory over a very tenacious Cal team.

East bracket is updated...South and stats will go up Thursday.
The East bracket also saw the first teams advance into the Sweet 16 with #1 Clemson taking down Stanford 102-69 and #3 Vermont beating Cal 87-71 with a late surge.

FYI, That's the old Southwest Missouri State (now just Missouri State) logo on my scoreboard. Southeast is the Redhawks.

So far it's going according to see into the Sweet 16 with the exception of #10 Miami, OH (jwahl2), which has pulled off the only upset so far in the second round. Nine of the 16 games have been completed.

Hey just wondering how many days the guy I'm playing has? The games have been sent to us for quite some ago and he's only joined one game. Now he's a freemium and I understand he can only play 4 games. Just wondering how many weeks this is going to take.
