lets assume for the moment ron paul doesnt get the gop nomination. He decides not to run as an independent. If someone who actively wishes to continue the war on terror is hte republican candidate would you vote for someone on the democrat side, specifically if it was someone not named hillary?

Be that as it may, I don't really like the idea of RFID, simply because they're a violation of constitutional rights. You can't just walk up and demand ID from someone. RFID lets you do that, often without even letting the person know that they've been ID'ed.

I do understand your argument. It's when people start extending RFID tags beyond their capabilities that I shake my head. Claiming that the government can track your RFID tagged documents every move via satellite for example.

If you are so inclined, RFID tags are very easily disabled. Wrap it in foil, (Hat jokes anyone? ) or simply smack it with a hammer.

Presto! No more RFID tag.

Just be prepared for extra scrutiny as the whole point of RFID tags, in passports for example, is to help weed out forgeries and speed the customs & immigration process. Anyone who has stood in line at ATL, JFK or LAX as I have would welcome a "fast (RFID) line".

I will not be arrested if I smash the RFID tag in my existing passport. It will just take longer for me to get through immigration. You will also be subjected to extra scrutiny if your existing drivers license is de-laminating so this is nothing new. Will you be arrested? No. Is there a law against the paranoid "accidentally" running over their passport with their truck (thereby disabling the RFID tag?) No.

RFID tags have been in US passports for almost a year now and to date our country has not fallen into big brother police state. Except for Andorra, Brunei and Liechtenstein, all of the 27 countries whose citizens can travel to the U.S. without a visa are now issuing "e-Passports". It's nothing new, nothing sinister and nothing to be afraid of.

Please show me a government link that states you will not be able to fly in an airplane without an RFID tagged drivers license. No wacko conspiracy web sites please.

The claims that someone can drive by your house and hit an RFID tag in your drivers license is just silly. It is just not possible and if you would do a tiny bit of REAL research you would understand how RFID technology works. Besides if you are really that worried, just wrap your license in tin foil like your hat. Without this National ID, you won't...
