Is a casualty count (perhaps in a game casualty box) something that should be incorprated into the game?

Casualty Count

Postby zunzee on Sun Dec 09, 2007 9:13 pm

<Subject>:
A counter for the casulty (troops lost) of every player

Suggestion Idea: There should be a bar/counter showing the current count of casaulty, or the number of lost troops, of each player in a game.

Specifics: located above the game chat, a casualty table should show the number of troops each player has lost so far in the game. And perhaps a total tallying up all troops lost for all players put together.

Why it is needed:
1. makes game more realistic (as casualties in real wars)
2. indicates intensity of battles
3. sense of accomplishment even for the loser
4. something to aim for!! (lowest casulaty in a victorious game / most casulaties inflicted on opponents)
<-------------------->
I'm currently playing this 4 way game on Ohama Beach, when this other player and I are the dominant rulers, with this other player slightly stronger than me and the other two dying. Naturally, the dying two players and I formed an alliance against the predominat player, whose playing style is rather defensive. Several times I have broken deep into his territories, but each time he recovers the next turn. As I exhaust myself breaking his bonuses, his speed of recovery gradully outdoes my damage. Now that the game is evidently lost for me, I'm thinking: man, all these great fights I put up with this player, all the troops I have killed, will not be remembered once the game is lost. Wouldn't it be nice to have ur oppoonent's casualty showing, to prove that u accomplished something even though the game is lost?

what do u guys think of this idea? :D

sounds like a good idea. Though it sounds like a far cry about how the dice are bad. Good idea nonetheless.

I think its an excellent idea. I'd be most interested in the overall body count, especially on the larger maps with numerous players. Great suggestion.

I like it :D

And maybe to go a step farther, make it like a matrix so you can see how many of each of the other players you kill, and how many each of them kill of yours.

I agree! we should have a casualty box showing info relating to the loss of troops such as number of troops lost this turn, the number of troops lost to each player, the number of troops other players lost, the tallied up loss in the game, and ur own losses.
this would be useful to some players like an account balancing the budget vs income! in this case, the number of troops u receive a turn vs the number of troops u lose

I like it, it gives you more feedback than just "You Won" or "You Lost"
it could be helpful in improving your strategy

I know, there are more important things to be fixed/improved other than the casulaty box atm. However, this can serve as a reference in the future when the web's advanced enuff for fancy stuff like this! :)
