Neoteny wrote:Their sound is crisp, and their musicians are talented.
Sound quality is almost exclusively the responsibility of the producer, not the band, and I wouldn't say anything Linkin Park has ever done qualifies as talented, their music is elementary to put it mildly.
Neoteny wrote:It's not our fault you're stuck in the eighties. And of any time period, the eighties is not one I'd want to be stuck in...
AC/DC were actually formed in the early 70's.
Neoteny wrote:If you listen to Hybrid Theory and then Minutes to Midnight, the style varies hugely, and this is even the case for Meteora.
Actually, I'd have to strongly disagree with you on that too. Linkin Park do the same thing every time on all of their albums with slightly different synth/accent noises in the background and slightly different lyrics.

Neoteny wrote:Tool is usually considered a large influence of nu metal.
Please don't insult Tool, nu-metal is characterized by a strong hip-hop presence and terrible musicianship, of which Tool doesn't really dabble in either.
Neoteny wrote:I respect AC/DC for being genre defining, if nothing else. There would be no Linkin Park without them, Sabbath, Zeppelin, etc.
Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin both predate AC/DC seeing as how both were formed in 1968 (although Led Zeppelin didn't release anything until 1969) and AC/DC was formed in 1973 (give or take a bit, of course.)
I'm not trying to change any opinions, I'm only stating the facts, please educate yourself musically before getting in way over your head in a musical argument.
I'm tired of this so I'll be quick. I'm not talking about sound quality, I'm talking about playing style. AC/DC formed in the 70's, arguably hit their peak in the 80's, and continued into the nineties. Yes, I can use wikipedia like the rest of you. Try listening to the albums. Those songs were representative of their popular music, but not of their albums overall. They didn't do all the songs, they picked six. Even so, following a certain structure doesn't make it bad, nor does it conclude that they all sound the same. I didn't call Tool nu metal, dumbass, I said they are an influence on nu metal. READING IS FUN! I've had this debate with my friends, and I think Sabbath has had the biggest influence on defining metal, though there are plenty who disagree with me. I don't see how mentioning that they predate AC/DC by four years really matters as AC/DC still contributed heavily to defining the genre.
Your facts are ridiculous. Get over yourself, you pompous ass.
Getting a little upset aren't you?
CRAAAAAAWLING IN MY SKIIIIIIN!
Anyway, even in terms of playing style they're sloppier than someone playing guitar with his wrist, most of their songs can literally be played with one finger the way they tune their guitars.
I also find it comforting that you fight internet fights using an open-source encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone at any time.
I never once said that their lack of original song structure was bad, read, I specifically said STAGNANT.

Couldn't agree more, moving on..
I know you didn't call Tool nu-metal, you said they influenced nu-metal, and I never said you said that, I said:
myself]Please don't insult Tool, nu-metal is characterized by a strong hip-hop presence and terrible musicianship, of which Tool doesn't really dabble in either.[/quote]
Meaning that I felt they had no hand in creating the bastard-son of rock and rap.

Anyway, you sure do seem to be defensive, there's no real sense in getting so desperately upset over musical opinions because no matter what you like there is someone, somewhere that hates it and hates you for liking it. One day when you truly realize that you'll stop asking/caring about your friend's/random stranger's specific musical opinions and start listening to music for the right reason; for enjoyment, and if that enjoyment comes from rap rock, jazz, technical Ethiopian blues or whatever genre you could name so be it.
Now calm down and learn to act like an adult when conflicting opinions arise, calling people names like an easily-defeated child won't convey your point more effectively, I assure you.
